1949 Chevy 3100Short bed / Step side / 5 Window Cab
Up for your consideration is my 1949 Chevy 3100. I've owned several of these gems over the years and this one is by far one of the most solid, well preserved, trucks I've ever come across.
I purchased the truck this past summer from the dry state of western Wyoming. It belonged to a gentleman who passed away several years ago and according to his family was one of his most prized vehicles. As you can see in the pictures this is a very straight and very solid truck. There is no cancerous rot or rust to speak of. There is only mild surface rust underneath barely worth mentioning. All frame rails and cross members are rock solid as are the cab corners, floor pans, rockers, inner fenders, firewall, etc... It's a rare thing to find a '49 this intact and not full of decay. Even the wood bed is in great shape considering it's age. As seen in the photos the front grille is missing a rail and the new owner would most likely want to replace the grille assembly. I loosely placed the grille on for pictures but will be attached for shipping. All body panel gaps are great with no pinching or binding and the hood shuts and latches securely and straight ... all signs that the truck appears to have no collision history. The last time it was on the road was approximately 15 years ago.
This is a solid and straight platform to restore to original or to build your hot rod on. The glass is ALL intact with no cracks or chips. The interior of the cab is as solid as the exterior and the dash is all there and in great shape, including the gauges and glass lenses. The upper interior door panels were a burgandy cross stitched "velvety" material (similar to the seat) that was hanging off so I tossed it. It's had one repaint back in the '70's, which explains the velvet cross stitched upholstery.
The original engine is there and is complete with the exception of no battery and no starter. It turns by hand so I know it isn't locked up. I haven't made any effort mechanically to get it started. My plan was to drop in a SBC crate motor. That being said, it is being sold as non-running. It rolls and steers just fine and the tires hold air.
You'll be hard pressed to find a '49-'52 Chevy 3100 that is a more solid platform to start from than this one. This one has all the right stuff .... Short bed, 5 Window Cab, Step Side ... does it get better? If you're looking for a true barn find without all the barn "extras" (rodent carcasses, nests, rot and decay, then you've found it. :)
After getting it back to Utah it underwent a thourogh cleaning inside and out. There were a number of things I wanted to jump in and start doing but have decided to pass it on to another lucky person do build their dream truck and use the funds to help fund my dream of my owning my shop come the first of the year.
Housekeeping:Please ask all questions, have funds in place, and permission (if needed, haha) BEFORE bidding. It takes a lot of time and money to list on ebay and I don't want to waste my, or anyone elses, time. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I'm willing to help on my end to make sure all goes well with your transport at pick up time. VEHICLE WILL NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL ALL FUNDS HAVE CLEARED. Truck is being sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied. I'm not a dealer. I've described the vehicle as straight forwardly as I can. To serious bidders, if you want to see anything that isn't pictured I'm happy to take additional photos of what you'd like to see and email them to you, just ask. I'm willing to discuss the truck on the phone with serious buyers, simply email me your phone number and I will call you. I'll consider ending the aution early if you would like to make an offer that's good for both of us. Good Luck !!
