1979 Chevrolet Corvette --

1979 CHEVROLET CORVETTE L82 --Black with White leather interior, Beige carpeting with Black removable T-Tops, 51,555 miles from new, 4-Speed manual transmission. The C3, or third generation Corvette was introduced for the 1968 model year and was in production until 1982. C3 coupes featured the use of T-top removable roof panels. Starting in 1978 for the Corvette's 25th anniversary, Chevrolet refreshed the C3. The most noticeable change was the introduction of the fastback rear window. The fixed-glass fastback provided better aerodynamics and increased the usable luggage space behind the seats while improving rearward visibility. The fuel tank capacity also increased from 17 to 24 gallons. For 1979 the base L-48 V8 engine generated 195 hp, while the L-82 V8 equipped cars produced 225 hp. L-82 engines included an aluminum intake manifold which saved 24 pounds compared to the cast iron unit of previous years. This was the final year a manual gearbox could be ordered with the L-82 engine. The front seats were also new for 1979. These seats had better side bolsters, provided easier access to the rear storage area, and resulted in a weight savings of about 24 pounds. This 1979 Corvette Coupe has seen just two owners. The most recent owner bought the car in 1980 from Malcolm Konner Chevrolet in New Jersey, thus it has resided with the same family since. Although 1979 was the most populous year of the Corvette, this black coupe was fitted with the L-82 V8 engine paired with the 4-speed manual gearbox. This C3 also has power steering, brakes, windows, and door locks. This C3's black exterior and white interior are in good shape with slight and honest patina throughout. The engine runs well and transmission shifts smoothly. This Corvette is in mostly original condition and has been well maintained during its long-term ownership.
