Description:
1956 Chevrolet Other Pickups
1956 Chevy 3600 Flat Bed Dually. Automatic 3 speed trans with 454 engine.Mileage is not clear since gauge cluster is showing very low mileage that was put in before I bought it.
New Edelbrock carb.
Truck runs good and is a driver, not a show truck. For me, this was a good thing. I don't want to have something I would get suicidal over if a rock dinged it or something.
Has goose neck trailer hitch on bed as well as fifth wheel bolt up. Don't have fifth wheel though.
Has heavy duty trailer hitch in rear.
It has a front (behind seat) and rear gas tank with a manual valve to switch between them. Tool box on passenger side with battery cable connectors for jump starts, etc.. The truck battery normally sits just in front of this tool box underneath the truck bed.
The Good:
Everyone will honk their horn and give you the thumbs up when you're on the road. People will walk across the street to check it out and ask about it. You will be the baddest mother on the road in it. This was my experience with it at least. I will miss it.
This truck will pull a mountain and drag it wherever you want to go. It is heavy duty all steel, heavy metal. If some other car runs into you in this truck, especially the bed, they will probably bounce off like a cue ball.
THE BAD:
Intake manifold leaks at back and I think this is the worst of it. Radiator fan needs a shroud made or found and put on. Dual exhaust pipes rub frame under truck in places. Front wheels rub mud guards when suspension flexes. Driver and passenger window seals need replacing. Flat bed could use re-coating with bedliner spray. Gauge cluster needs some work. Everything is an easy fix pretty much and it will be a killer truck with a little work and some money spent. I bought this truck with most of these problems and drove it as is.
I haven't had time to drive it much in the last few years. If I fix all these things, I know for sure I won't want to sell it, you know how it goes.
If you are not willing to pick up the truck locally, you can have a shipper come here to pick it up, but I will not be involved in that at all in any way. Your shipper must be able and qualified to handle the pickup with no help from me, and the cost of that will be paid by you, the buyer, and any damages that occur will be your or your shippers responsibility. Reason why I say this is in the past, supposed professionals at this kind of thing have shown up looking like it was their first job and I end up having to do the work. But at that point, it isn't my thing anymore and you, the buyer, needs to have a pro who is insured working for you to ship what ever it is, and be able to pay for their damage if any occurs.
