Description:
1962 Chevrolet Impala SS
This is a very nice original, numbers matching car. It is a true SS. It was restored about 20 years ago, and pampered ever since. It is a beautiful "head turner." I get compliments every time I take it out. It is fun and easy to drive, it is smooth. It is very well equipped, with power brakes, power steering, power windows, Air conditioning, AM/FM Stereo and it all works as designed.Back in the day, if you wanted air conditioning on a car that didn't come from the factory with it, you could have the dealer install it. It is the same as factory under hood, but has the evaporator/blower unit under dash rather than in dash.(Air has been converted from R12 to 134A refrigerant.) It blows cold, but without the windows tinted it has a time bringing cabin temperature down to a comfortable level, especially here in Texas. I may go ahead and get them tinted next week. If so, car will look different than these pics.It still has original 12 volt generator that works well, but can easily be converted to an alternator. (I wouldn't do it) The car is so original, just like it looked the day it was delivered. The rear end, or differential, is a 3.43 posi-trac.
This car is in very good condition. Brakes have all been refreshed, and workwell. It has the original Borg Warner T-10 4-speed floor shift transmission. I recently installed new clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing. Transmission shifts smoothly. This is a "fly in, drive home" car. I wouldn't hesitate to head out in it, depending of course, on how far away you live. The original motor was completely rebuilt a couple of thousand miles back.It cranks and runs as good as ever. All the lights, inside and out, work as designed. blinkers, horn, courtesy, parking, indicator, back-up etc. The dash lights could be a little brighter. It has bucket seats with a console and lap type seat belts. This is a beautiful car with very few blemishes. The paint is 20 some odd years old, and it has been rubbed or polished down in a few spots, but nothing very noticeable. All the glass is good. There is a recently discovered, intermittent problem with the windshield wipers, some time they won't work, due to an interlock within the wiper motor unit. (I have trouble shot it down to there.) I will attempt to repair next week.I have the original wheels with full wheel covers and the original set of fender skirts. This car has no rust anywhere on it. I have a two-post lift and I have inspected this car from top to bottom. It is as solid as you could ask.The tires and aluminum wheels have less than 3 thousand miles on them.
This is a very reasonable price for this car, it is clean and everything operates as it was designed, and intended to. The buyer will not be disappointed with it.
Feel free to come look and test drive. My cell is nine 0 3 eight 2 44 seven two 0, I will answer any question, and supply other requested pics.
