Up for your consideration to purchase is a beautiful 1966 El Camino. This car was purchased new here locally in 1966 by a friend and was swapped/traded around among a few friends up until 2015. It was born a factory Big Block 396 car, The car spent most of its life on the drag strip on weekends and the mileage is believed to be 33,000 actual miles, but due to Virginias policies and the age of the vehicle the Va title shows miles exempt. The original high horse power big block is long gone as it was swapped out sometime in the mid 70s with a 69 date coded L79 396/375 out of a Camaro, When I aquired this car in 2015 I robbed the L79 Camaro engine for a 69 Camaro I was restoring at the time and replaced it with a fresh built 327 that has been completely built and has an estimated 400 H.P. This car was born fast, has been fast all of its life and though since 1966 the cubic inches have been decreased to a small block it still remains fast!!
This car IS ALL original sheet metal and is as solid and RUST FREE as you will ever encounter! All of the gaps and body lines look excellent and everything fits like a glove.
The car is equipped with power steering, knee knocker tach, gauges The radical small block is attached to a 4 speed transmission with a Hurst shifter and mated to its original 12 bolt rear end with 3:73 gear ratio. All lights, signals, horn, radio, gauges work properly. ( The wipers do not work.) This car runs strong handles great and hits the road smooth and very tight no squeaks or rattles!
The floor, bed, frame and all sheet metal is solid and has never been patched up!
This car was completely disassembled and received a one time repaint in tuxedo black lacquer paint in 1978 and has been garage kept since! YES YOU READ CORRECTLY 39 YEAR OLD LACQUER PAINT THAT IS TO SAY THE LEAST IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! It still retains a deep glossy mirror finish and is slick as glass and razor straight!! If I didn't know for a fact this paint was 39 years old I'd swear it was a lie it is simply just that impressive! It does have a few blemishes and small chips down low that have been touched up over the years. I would still say it is far ahead of most car that were painted yesterday. I would rate the paint a strong 8.5 on a scale of 1 to 10 with a 10 being perfect Nothing out of the ordinary or nothing more than what I'd call normal wear! This is a very very nice honest solid El Camino! All of the chrome, glass, stainless, emblems etc are in excellent condition.
The interior shows very good as well and is free from any rips or tears and all seat belts are intact! It has some fading that is normal for its age.
It is riding on 15x8 rally wheels with new bands, center caps and BF Goodrich tires I I added new in 2015.
