1966 Chevrolet Corvette 4 Spd, Two Tops, Factory AC
One of the icons of the American road: this very original 1966 Corvette convertible is equipped with the wonderful 327 cubic inch 350 horsepower V8 engine and 4 speed manual transmission. It's a factory Rally Red on red interior, air conditioning, two convertible top and knock off wheel equipped car.
We initially thought we’d restore this one, but the more time we spent with it the more we fell in love with its character and originality (most of the interior is original and make sure to check out the pics to see the early ‘90s Southern Methodist University parking stickers that are still on the rear bumper). If you're really into Vettes and looking for one that’s perfect to drive around and not worry about parking next to another car in a parking lot, this is the ’66 you’re looking for.It was repainted approximately 20 years ago and has blemishes here and there (it’s a 20 footer). The aftermarket AM/FM/tape player works well and the AC works but isn’t blowing cold yet (we believe it needs a proportioning valve).
The engine bay follows the theme of the rest of the car, it’s very original. The engine is as close to “born with” as possible (1968 CE warranty replacement). The drivability and knockoff wheels are average for their age and mileage (the odometer reads 8,298 but we’re guessing that the real number is 108,298). The soft top appears to be original and will need to be replaced if you want to use it.
Corvette fans can't help but grin when they meet a great Vette. This is one of those special cars. It would hold its own at your local car show and you wouldn’t feel guilty if you got caught in a rainstorm while driving home.
