BEAUTIFUL BEL AIR HARDTOP! 283 POWER PACK V8, AUTO, FACTORY CORRECT MATADOR RED!
1957 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210
We know there are a lot of 1957 Chevy Bel Air hardtops out there to choose from, but please, take a moment and look this one over very carefully. It's an older restoration but it's in fantastic shape and it totally nails that archetypal '57 Chevy look. Is there anyone who doesn't want a bright red Chevy Bel Air hardtop?Matador Red is the archetypal '57 Chevy color, and with good reason: it looks AWESOME. You don't go subtle on a '57, especially not a Bel Air with all that trim, and it's nice to note that this car came that way from the factory (although it did originally have an India Ivory top). It's built to be a driver and that's what it had done for the past few years, but the paint is holding up well with a few minor signs of use and age that are all but ignored when you see the rest of the car sitting in front of you. Take it to a professional for a buff and you'll really see it shine. All the chrome and trim looks good, including the requisite gold anodized trunk emblem and distinctive Bel Air quarter panel trim. The V-shaped emblem on the front denotes a V8 car, and yes, this car carries a proper 283, complete with Power Pack. The fabulous two-tone black and red interior matches the Matador Red bodywork and few cars of the 1950s can match the Bel Air's combination of beauty and over-the-top styling. The seat covers are exact replicas of the originals, right down to the brocade material that's actually quite comfortable. Matching materials on the door panels offer more delightful styling and impeccable workmanship, and the carpets are protected by correct red rubber mats. The entire dash retains the original look, including the steering wheel, gauges, and trim, with all of it looking ready to show or drive and the original radio has been replaced by an AM/FM/cassette head unit. Interestingly enough, it appears that this was a factory A/C car (check out the vents) and there are numerous aftermarket systems that would fit right in there. Open the trunk and you'll find correct details like the black rubber mat, a matching spare tire, as well as a proper jack assembly. The engine is a correct 283 cubic inch V8. Equipped with the Power Pack, it's a lively performer on the street, which is why these cars are so beloved. Nicely detailed, it wears Chevy Orange paint, an original air cleaner, and minimal alterations to the original spec. It's a little dirty, but a weekend of cleaning and polishing would fix that, and for the most part, all the finishes and textures are as they should be. It even still carries its original generator/power steering pump. Backed by a 2-speed PowerGlide automatic and the original rear end, it's a great cruiser that will go anywhere at modern highway speeds, and while it's not perfect, the underside does show off a lifetime in a warm climate. The exhaust is brand new and gives the car a nice V8 purr and a recent gas tank hangs out back. Flashy spinner hubcaps, color-matched wheels, and 7.50-14 whitewalls make it look right. The best year, the best color, and the best body style, all at a reasonable price. What's not to love?
