1940 Chevy Rat Rod Pickup Truck
1940 Chevrolet Other
Selling my 1940 Chevrolet Rat Rod Truck. I will give as much detail as possible. The truck is a steel body with a new box. Frame was shortened and front suspension was clipped with a 78 firebird clip. Body was carved out with a plasma cutter and a cocktail. The cab was dented up from being left out alone so long and was straightened out some.It has its own look compared to any other 40 Chevy. All suspension parts were replaced. It has power steering and I took the time to put air conditioning in.The truck has a dual master cylinder NON POWER BRAKES setup. It takes a lot of foot pressure. If you want power brakes, you will have to change it. It worked fine for my use.
The engine is a Tri Star (Baldwin Wisconsin) engine Street Rod motor. The engine dyno showed about 420 hp. It has a full serpentine belt set up. Everything was new. The engine runs great with the lope you want your rod to have. It gets compliments all the time. The700R4 with overdrivetransmission was a race rebuilt also bought from Tri Star. The total powertrain has about 600 miles. The odometer was put in during the build. Most of the other items have been purchased from Speedway if you would need a part. Hoses and fittings were all done with Aeroquip style fittings and quality lines. The rear differential is the stock Firebird unit with 3:08 gears. The speedo pinion is set for 3.73 gears so speedo is off about 12 mph. You can switch the speedo gear or put some 3.73 gears in and tear the tires off doing burnouts. N50 tires on the rear with nice coated mag wheels. It turns heads and gets thumbs up everywhere. Dual exhaust with turbo mufflers so it raps pretty good with a low pitch thump at low speeds. 14 (I think) Gallon aluminum fuel tank in box.
The interior is made up of speedway seats, a tilt column, Lokar shifter, and new glass. The interior was left rusty for some "rat fashion" statement. Seat belts are lap belts, so check your state laws. Doors shut nice and tight. It would need inside door handles which are readily available. Most of the diamond plate is made by hand. It is a Rat Rod, just kind of dressed up. The frame has been painted and should last for years. The frame has no rust that I know of.the bodyis Flat Black.
For a Rat Rod, this thing drives great.
If you want to bid, make sure you can have it in your state. It may be fine or it may need mods to use it, just make sure to check first. It has no warranty. The engine and transmission have a warranty, but I do not think it will transfer to the new owner, so just figure it has no warranty. I drive it often, and will give you advise on how I take care of it, but it is a rat rod, so don't bid if you can't work on it or don't know someone who can. It runs great and everything was new, but buy at your own risk. Again, it is a rat rod.
Thanks for looking. I am happy to answer questions. The truck is for sale locally as well, so auction may end early if it sells. I am selling the truck because I am moving and will be down to a small garage. Will miss it. Good luck bidding!
