Description:
1940 Chevrolet 2 door sedan
This 1940 Chevy street rod is a straight forward and simple project to complete. The build started with an extremely solid and rust free car. It was completely disassembledand then all surfaces plastic media stripped to bare metal. The every inch of the body was metal finished and then put into epoxyprimer. The the frame was also stripped and modified with a Scott'sRod Shop heavy-duty Independentcoil over Mustang II style front suspension with new power steering rack and disc brakes. The rear is a rebuilt Ford 9 inch with drum brakes perched on Posies glide leaf springs.
New power brake pedal and booster installed. A recessed firewall was installed and the car was set up for a Chevy small block and automatic transmission. V butted windshield installed. New aluminum radiatorwas installed. A new drive shaft was also installed. All new glass installed all around, new door and will seals and channelinstalled.
Rear fender has a pop up gas filler door and the gas tank is new also. The frame is in black urethane paint and the entire underside of the body is also painted black urethane. There is a complete new exhaust system that was installed in the car. There gauges are new Dolphin in a polished dash insert. Newport Engineering 3 speed wiper motor and GM tilt column.
The front and rear seats are original and have not been upholstered. Interior needs to be done including the headliner. All the parts are will the car. You see pictures of the assembled car for final fit prior to painting. The car was assembledand running and driving when it came to us to finish a few months ago with a 305 V8. The fenders, inner fenders, grill, hood were removed to facilitatefinal painting of the car. The engine was removed and sold as the owner wanted to go with a different engine.
The engine was sold and the project stalled. We wound up cashing him out ( $12,000.00) on the car and putting it aside while we work on more pressing projects. In any event we decided to offer the car at a loss and free up valuable shop space for incoming machinery.
Take a few moments and think about how much you would have to pay a rod shop to build this car to this point, or how much work is involved to do it yourself if you have the skills. This is a very nice car and far beyond a project. There is no engine and transmission included, however how easy is it to find a small bock Chevy and transmission? The new tires chrome wheels you see on the first pictures are included. We will bolt the nose and front fenders back on to make transport easier for you. It is a roller.
