1968 Chevrolet C-10
This 1968 Chevy C10 Restomod pickup is the kind of vehicle that responds best to subtlety. Lowered and wearing a well-done classic black paint job, it grabs your attention without resorting to gimmicks. If you like your hardware simple and your look timeless, this is the truck you should be driving.Admit it, you're digging how this truck looks, aren't you? Is it the miles-deep black paint? Maybe, but only because it lets the rest of the classic sheetmetal, including the sporty stepside bed, do the talking. With the lowered stance, you can see the graceful curve that stretches from the nose to the back of the cab, and the canted front end looks fast, not utilitarian and truck-like. Finish work is excellent, with even gaps and a smooth surface for the glossy black paint to cling to. The flared fenders of the stepside bed always give these trucks a high-performance look, and it works well with the other modifications: shaved door handles, deleted emblems and trim, a cowl-induction hood, and a trick tailgate that is not only beautifully finished, but hovers down without chains or cables, which is a very cool trick. The bed itself was custom-fabricated from a late-model Dodge, so it's like new, and the fuel filler is embedded in the floor for easy access. The taillights are old-school 1932 Chevy pieces with LEDs inside and that rear bumper, just in case you're trying to place it, was made from a pair of '69 Camaro bumpers. Too cool, right? The new black interior is the ideal complement to the black bodywork, and like the exterior, delivers a modern twist on an old favorite. The bench seat is a modern unit wrapped in black and gray leather and it's contoured to make it comfortable for long cruises. The original dash has been smoothed and detailed and is now filled with beautiful Dakota Digital gauges that look like they were born there. There's also a carbon-fiber dash panel and a 3-spoke steering wheel that's almost like a vintage Camaro piece, but not quite. The floor-mounted shifter is just the right height and all the carpets are new, so it feels plush inside. There is no radio, but we doubt you'll miss it and it offers ice cold A/C to make cruising comfortable any time of year. Great rods show vision, and someone definitely had the right idea when they put this one together.A thundering 427 cubic inch V8 under the hood gives this truck performance to match its looks. A set of aluminum heads shave weight as well as build horsepower and it's topped by a big QuickFuel 4-barrel carburetor. There's a lot of polished aluminum, including the intake manifold and serpentine belt drive system for the accessories, and the gloss black engine bay was obviously prepped and finished before the big block went in. We've supplied a lot of undercarriage photos so you can see just how amazing this truck is from below, including a tubular A-arm front suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, giant sway bars, and a built TH400 3-speed automatic with a 3000 RPM stall torque converter. Long-tube headers feed a custom dual exhaust system with side exits just ahead of the rear wheels and the 12-bolt rear end is full of 3.73 gears that make it shockingly quick. Classic Torque Thrust wheels will always look great on '60s GM muscle, with these wearing fat Nitto meats. If you like the subtle look in a no-expense-spared build, this C10 will knock you out with its perfectly simple combination and stunning execution.
