1973 Chevrolet Camaro LT Coupe 2-Door

I am listing my 1973 Chevrolet Camaro restomod up for sale. This is a fabulous car and has tons of very nice options. It's a turn key restored Musclecar that needs nothing but a driver.

The car is a 73 Chevrolet Camaro Type LT. It was originally a 350, automatic car but it's been frame off restored and converted to a big block restomod. The car currently has a healthy 1972 396 hooked to a Tremec 5 speed manual transmission that runs back to a 12 bolt posi rear with 3:73 gears.

This car was frame off restored. The entire front subframe was removed, sandblasted, and then powder coated. It was then re-assembled with all new bushings, body mounts, oversized sway bars, and coil springs. It received all new brakes, rotors, and bearings. The body was media blasted, and the entire floor and frame area was Rhino lined before being painted the same color as the body. This car is all metal. The floors, trunk, frame rails, front fenders, and quarters were taken down to bare metal and prepped for paint. The paint job is near perfect. It's a metallic blue with painted white SS stripes with clear coat over everything. The paint looks so fantastic that the car has twice in the last 4-5 months won awards at local car shows. It received a top 40 award at the Doylestown Classic Car show. There were over 450 cars in attendance that night. Also, at the beginning of the summer it won an award at a local show for best paint. The body is super straight and the paint looks fantastic. All the door, hood, and trunk lines are spot on. The door hinges were rebuilt so there is absolutely no door sagging. The hood is a fiberglass 2-1/2" cowl hood that has light duty hood springs, and hood pins in the front to hold it securely in place. The front bumpers are new repro's. They are the RS bumperettes but please be perfectly clear this car is NOT an RS or a Z/28. The previous owner installed the RS bumperettes because he liked the look better than the full bumper and he also installed the Z/28 badges but this car is a Type LT and NOT a real Z/28.

The entire underneath is spotless. The front subframe was powder coated, the floors, and rear frame rails were Rhino-lined and then painted body color to really set the car off. The entire front and rear suspension were rebuilt using new springs, shocks, brakes, new front and rear sway bars, fuel and brake lines, ect. You name it, it was replaced with new parts. When all this suspension work was done a set of subframe connectors was also installed assuring that the car would not flex with the power pf the big block as well as helping with handling by tightening up the entire suspension. This car is super tight and handles well even though it has a big block up front. It stops on a dime with front disc brakes and just had brand new rear brake shoes, wheel cylinders, and spring kits installed.

The true beauty of this car is in the drivetrain. Instead of being just another 350 Camaro, this car has a period correct 1972 396 which has been totally rebuilt. It has a steel crank, forged pistons, Crane cam with .540" lift, double roller timing chain, mildly ported heads with roller rockers, an Edelbrock aluminum intake, Holley 750 double pumper carb, and HEI ignition. The motor has about 5000 miles since it's rebuild and I have receipts from the machine shop for the work performed. The motor pulls STRONG and idle's nicely with a slight lope but nothing crazy. It has good oil pressure and never runs hot even on 95 degree days.

All of that power runs through a brand new Ram clutch to a brand new Tremec TKO 600 5 speed manual transmission. I installed the Tremec this November and it currently has about 500-600 miles on the trans and clutch. When I did the transmission swap from a Muncie 4 speed to a Tremec, I had the flywheel resurfaced, installed a brand new clutch and throw out bearing, and also a roller pilot bearing. TheTremec transmission has the Hurst Blackjack offset shifter which relocates the shifter to sit perfectly in the factory console. Unless you look underneath or closely at the 5 speed pattern on the shift ball, you would never be able to tell that this car has a 5 speed. If you've never drivine a Musclecar with an overdrive transmission, you don't know what you are missing. This car has the best of both worlds. Around town it's an absolute beast with a 396 and 3:73 gears but get it out on the highway and shift up into 5th and the cruising RPM's drop to about 2300 at 65 mph. It's fantastic.

The rest of the drivetrain is also in outstanding condition. The rear is a 12 bolt posi with Strange axles. At the beginning of the summer I took the car to a well known hot rod shop to have a new exhaust system installed (more on that shortly) and they noticed some slight gear oil dripping from the right brake drum. I had them pull it apart and my right rear axle bearing had worn slightly into the axle shaft. Rather than do a cheap fix, I had them install 2 brand new Strange axles along with new bearings and seals. Because the gear oil had gotten on the brake shoes, I went with all new shoes, wheel cylinders, and spring kits. The rear has an Eaton posi unit along with Richmond 3:73 gears. The entire drivetrain is solid, powerful, and a blast to drive.

The exhaust system consists of Hooker Super Comp ceramic coated headers that run back to a brand new 2-1/2" mandrel bent exhaust system with Spintech mufflers. This car had Flowmaster's on it when I first got it and I felt like it sounded like every single other car at a cruise night so I did some research and decided on Spintech Mufflers. They sound healthy, flow really well, and look great tucked under the car. I took the car to Trick Works in Telford Pa to have them custom install the entire exhaust system. They did a fantastic job of tucking the mandrel bent system up under the car and setting the tailpipes just how I wanted with a slant cut that sits even with the rear quarter panel.

As for the interior of the car, the dash, door panels, seats, headliner and console are all in outstanding condition. The car has an aftermarket stereo along with rear speakers. The stereo sounds good and also has an input plug so you can play music through your Ipod. Everything works such as wipers, heat, tilt column, turn signals, and lights. Yes the car does have a tilt column, along with a Vintage Air A/C unit. The entire Vintage air system was installed with the new motor and works fantastic. It blows nice and cold and has it's own custom control panel that mounts right where the original heater controls were mounted. That's the beauty of this car. It has the classic lines of a 73 Camaro but you can roll up your windows turn up the A/C, listen to your Ipod, all while cruising the highway in 5th gear.

The wheels are 17" polished Torque Thrusts with 245/40/17's on the front and 275/50/17's onthe rear. The wheels and tires fit perfectly and don't rub at all. The car has a fantastic rake yet sits nicely enough to not look slammed. The 17" wheels and tires fill out the wheel wells so nicely that I don't think I'd ever go back to a 15" wheel. The tires are brand new Nitto's.

I have taken tons of pictures along with 2 videos of the car to try to describe it as best as I can. I will be adding the video's later today for your viewing. Feel free to send me an email address and I will include additional pictures. I'll also be willing to take any specific pictures that you require.

Please feel free to email me with any requests for additional pictures or information. I welcome all 3rd party inspections as there is nothing to hide. This is a fantastic car. I drive this car about 500-750 miles a year to local shows and cruise nights. THIS IS A AWESOME CRUISER AND HAS NO SHIMMY OR SHAKE. YOU HAVE TO DRIVE IT TO SEE HOW SMOOTH IT GOES DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car anywhere as it's rock solid and with the overdrive trans it can cruise nicely at highway speeds.

Thanks for looking at my auction
