ProStreet ProTouring, Fresh Build, Built Blown 540ci, Long Spec Sheet, SHOW CAR!
1966 Chevrolet Nova
One of the coolest things about the classic car hobby is the amount of passion and creativity enthusiasts put into builds that can sometimes span many decades. And since all of us here at Custom Classics in the Chicago area are gear heads in one form or another, we know the kind of dedication a high dollar project takes. That said; it seems every time we think we’ve seen it all, another completely wild and amazing car comes through these doors and just knocks our socks off! Well here is one of those cars folks... and yes I did list this as Pro-Street / Pro-Touring because this car is a real nice blend of both worlds. This 1966 Chevrolet Nova is a professionally assembled stunner which wraps a very fresh 540 cubic inch V8 and some of the best performance hardware on the market in a custom massaged interior and one of the most impressive bodies to ever come out of a GM design studio. And best of all, you can drive and enjoy this slick pro-tourer RIGHT NOW for less than half its $180K build cost!
Of course, it should come as no surprise that these slick little classics draw the admiration of experts in our hobby. When you get their paint and panel combination just right, they’re guaranteed to be the best looking muscle car in town! And this super cool, super slick two-tone ’66 Nova pro-street is a ‘take no prisoners' build that was completed to the absolute highest standards. Exceptionally solid and ready to hit the show circuit, its broad-shouldered body was aligned to better-than-factory standards, block sanded into a slick-flat surface and covered with a striking coat of Deep Impact Blue on the top side and Silvertone Silver on the lower half. The result is one fantastic looking muscle car which features a level of fit and finish that is more akin to a concept car than a 45-year-old classic and has the kind of unique style and daydream inducing eyeball appeal that will drop jaws anywhere you go.
Gleaming into the engine bay here is what you're going to find:
Let's start with the obvious, how about a big beautiful polished Weiand Blower, with a set of blacked out 750 Quick-Fuel Blower carbs. That's all bolted down on a 540 cubic inch Big Block with 8:.5-1 Comp Pro series blower style pistons, Comp Cam, and Comp Push Rods, with a complete Hydraulic Roller set up. Bolted down on that block is a set of aluminum Brodix ported heads, and a set of Jet-Hot coated headers blows the exhaust out through a complete custom built exhaust system. And for the spark that makes it all happen, is a trusty 6-AL MSD Ignition system. The blower is under driven for street use. So beyond all those beautiful polished billet parts is one heck of an engine, which has been set up to be driver friendly, not to mention it will steal everyone away at any show & draw them over to your new ride.
The handsome, sharp-edged lines of the Nova II are typical 60s conservative. And because they’re so appealing to look at and so specific in nature, they’ve continued to gain significant popularity as car design has become more and more homogenized. At the front of the car, a show quality chrome bumper hangs the two modern headlights with turn signals hid inside of them, which cleans up the front of this little Nova, and in between those new headlights is a beautiful spotless Gm grill. Some nice tinted side glass sets off the side of the car just right, and up front, a new tinted windshield sits behind a big polished blower. At the sides of the car, clean modernist panels are complemented by traditional chrome door handles, a crisp and clean new pair of side mirrors, and custom two tone paint. You'll see no emblems on the sides to clutter things up, just a clean slick paint job. And at the back of the car, vertical, chrome trimmed tail lights illuminate a second body-width chrome bumper below a pristine, deck lid with a small hand painted emblem off to the right lower corner.
One of the best parts of owning a pro-touring car is putting it up on a lift; and naturally, this Nova does not disappoint! I say ‘naturally’ because, after studying the body and spending ample time taking in the engine bay, you should know by now that this car is the real deal! Behind the hot 540, you'll find a tough built 400 Turbo automatic transmission with Hughes 3500 stall converter, with a deep sump pan which sends power to a fully rebuilt and reinforced 8 ¾ Posi-traction rear end and tall 4.10 gears. At the front of the car, a TCI Front sub-frame slides a modern rack and pinion steering system between tubular control arms and shiny Deep Impact Blue paint. At the center of the car ceramic coated, mandrel bent pipes send burnt dinosaurs into ceramic coated, chamber turbo mufflers. At the back of the car, a ladder bar suspension keeps the big tires grounded and the tall gears suspended. And at the corners of the car, adjustable coil overs combine an excellent ride with a killer stance. Stops are provided by Aero Space Billet four-wheel disc brakes which utilize polished calipers to squeeze massive rotors. The car's floors and chassis are extremely clean and display a nice text coat of satin black paint which serves as both an aesthetic attribute and a protective coating. And all the car's awesome hardware rides on a great looking set of polished Mickey Thompson billet wheels which spin Mickey Thompson 24x5 R15 front and 29x18 R15 rear radials.
Take a look inside this laser straight Nova and you'll find a custom-tailored environment that, despite its chamois surfaces and custom inserts, still retains all the integrity of GM’s impeccable original design up front, while towards the rear of the interior you get that pro-street look and feel. The new custom seats, which are covered in gray material, has only test miles on this fresh build, therefore you'll find no wear at all, and they feel every bit as soft as they look. In front of those seats a familiar square dash, which is completely upgraded with a full set of Auto Meter gauges between spotless dash panel. Below those seats new custom gray carpet, which is protected by a set of floor mats and some GM door sills. And above those seats, a tight new headliner centers a trimmed dome light between the custom color-coded roll cage and color-keyed window frames. In front of the driver, a gray tilt steering column spins a polished, half-wrap steering wheel around a full set of billet stalks. At the sides of the driver, custom door panels ride behind great looking billet hardware and fresh stainless trim. And behind the driver, a custom interior finishes off the wheel wells and what use to be the back seat area. Go a little farther to the rear of the car, and pop the trunk lid, and you’ll find a fully detailed trunk that’s inhabited by more Ultraleather panels, more gray inserts, and more pristine trim, as well as an incredibly custom fuel cell (airbrushed tastefully with skulls) and a custom pin-striped battery box.
This sweet ‘66 Nova pro-Street takes ‘clean’ to a whole new level and is certain to be the star of the show anywhere you go! It’s a spectacular build which features custom comfort and a modern drivetrain that's ready to hit the road for Friday night cruises, Saturday morning poker runs or Sunday afternoon shows. If you're looking for a car that has serious performance to back up its killer good looks, this Chevy Nova Pro Street belongs in your driveway!
