1959 Chevrolet Impala Convertible

Spring is on the way. Time to put the top down and cruise this very nice 1959 Chevrolet Impala convertible that was built to drive and enjoy. With just a couple of exceptions, it's stock, with a 348 V8, an original power glide automatic transmission and a few upgrades for comfort, safety and reliability. The combination of Sierra Gold paint (a 1956 Chevrolet color) combined with the stock 1959 Chevrolet Copper interior creates a stunning look and garners tons of attention wherever it goes. The bodywork is very straight, the hood fits extremely well, and the gaps around the doors are excellent. The stylish copper-colored interior is in excellent condition, including the door panels and correct carpets. The two-tone steering wheel frames a set of stock gauges, all of which work, and all in their own chrome-plated pods.

The Vintage Air A/C retains the original 1959 corner dash vents along with a mid 1960s metal center vent to keep you cool. A modern AM/FM/cassette stereo fits neatly in the original radio slot.A new white convertible power top closes easily and stows under a new copper-colored boot. The gargantuan trunk is finished with a correct mat and full-sized spare tire.

There is a correct 348 cubic inch V8 under the hood, rebuilt about 8,500 miles ago, so it's quite fresh and lots of chrome dress-up adds a show-quality look. A modern master cylinder and power disc brake booster, plus a chrome alternator and A/C compressor all add modern reliability and comfort and the 348 delivers plenty of performance. The car's original 2-speed Power Glide automatic transmission still sets behind the engine and powers the original rear end. The dual aluminized exhaust system along with stainless steel Magnaflow mufflers is new, the springs, sway bars, and shocks are fresh, and there are power front disc brakes for safety. It sits right thanks to 2 inch dropped spindles and 2-inch shorter coil rear springs. The 17-inch TQ Rod wheels are wrapped in beautiful 235/55/17 Diamondback Classic whitewall radials.

I will be at the Goodguys Show at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth Texas, Friday, March 17.Contact Owner/Seller John 817-577-5774 or, john@groupbolton.com with any questions.

The 1959 Chevrolet was GM's famous designer Harley Earl’s final, dramatic statement before his retirement.

History

On April 12, 1980, this 1959 Chevrolet Impala convertible was serviced at Plumb Lake Shell in Reno, Nevada. Mileage was 80,864. Owner was a Mr. Nitz of Reno. The original service sticker was on the doorjamb when I purchased the car in 2008. I have paperwork and receipts from the owner in Reno until August of 1992 when the car was sold to Mr. Rice in Seattle, Washington.

Included are itemized receipts dated 1991 for a full engine rebuild of the 348 V-8 including a Crane Cam Hydraulic Special. I have the specification card for the Crane cam and the decals that came with it.The paperwork refers to installation of the engine and transmission. All itemized paperwork is included. In 1996, Mr. Rice converted the original radio to an AM/FM stereo cassette.

Mr. Rice's receipts are included in the paperwork up until 2008, when I purchased the car. Mileage at the time of my purchase was approximately 87,000. Mileage today is approximately 88,500. From 1980 till 2015, the car has been driven about 8,500 miles.

All of my paperwork since 2008 is included with the car.

I will provide a complete book of photos of the restoration process.
