BODYWORK/TRIM
Not far removed from a comprehensive, frame-off restoration, this Chevelle wears a timeless coat of glossy black 2-stage that's decidedly malevolent thanks to rich Super Sport stripes. Beneath that wet-looking finish, solid body panels align well, forming an impressive profile that's sure to turn heads for years to come. At the front of that profile, stainless-trimmed headlights center a shaved Super Sport grille on a broad bumper that's finished with clear parking lamps. Behind that grille, an appropriately labeled Cowl Induction Hood anchors body-matched lanyards opposite tinted glass and a tight vinyl roof. Beneath that stainless-trimmed greenhouse, an emblem-free profile seats traditional door handles between bright wheel frames and correct chrome mirrors. Opposite those mirrors, a second broad bumper secures clear taillights beneath a shaved decklid. And all those bolt-ons, when combined with the car's fresh finish and impressive stance, ensure a grand influx of memorable compliments!
ENGINE
The Chevelle has always been a highly competent, ready-made package. In the mid '60s, the car was a pioneer of big block performance. In the early '70s, it made a legend out of Chevrolet's incredible LS6 454. That said, it doesn't seem unnatural that this coupe's classic hood veils The General's latest performance champion: a lightweight Generation IV small block. Widely considered one of the world's greatest powerplants, GM's Generation IV LS3 utilizes aluminum construction, high-flow heads, a high-flow intake, an aggressive cam and an upgraded injection system to mix hours of thrills with miles of impressive fuel economy. Making a healthy 430 horsepower from the factory, the smooth revving engine is certainly no slouch in the performance department. And, as with the exterior of this Chevy, there are many well-planned upgrades that impress show goers and speed freaks alike. A custom shroud sports custom, color-keyed graphics. Beneath that cowl, a billet RestoMod serpentine system fronts a polished alternator, modern power steering and a coated AC compressor. A monochromatic air tube terminates with a big, reusable filter element. There's a 3-core aluminum radiator that's equipped with two electric puller fans. And Taylor Spiro Pro Race Wires combine with coated Doug's headers, tough Ringbrothers hood supports and a familiar Wilwood master cylinder to detail an otherwise purpose-built performer.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
When the engine jumps to life, it twists torque through a Tremec TKO600 5-speed, which spins power to a traditional 12-bolt pumpkin that's built with a Detroit Truetrac differential, hardened axles and Richmond 3.73 gears. That drivetrain pushes a Ridetech 4-link suspension that's fitted with a 1-inch sway bar and Fox coil-over-shocks. At the front of the car's powder-coated chassis, a second 1-inch sway bar frames more Fox coil-overs in Ridetech StrongArms control arms. Turns come courtesy of a quick-ratio steering box. Hydroboost hydraulics jolt four Wilwood calipers, 6-piston up front and 4-piston out back, to squeeze a quartet of slotted rotors. There's a 3-inch, powder-coated exhaust system that growls through an X-shaped crossover and throaty Magnaflow mufflers. At the corners of the car's glossy floors, stylish Ridler wheels lap 235/40R18 Toyo Proxes 4s in front of 295/30R20 Toyo Proxes 4s. And everything, from this Chevelle's deep Holley oil pan to its quality Aeromotive fuel regulator, is clean, solid and set to cruise.
INTERIOR
Between the doors, things appear mostly traditional with the exception of a few thoughtful upgrades. Era-correct bench and bucket seats feature leather hides with snazzy red stitching. A familiar Super Sport dash complements clean telemetry with a VIAIR accessory gauge. A custom console plants a familiar Hurst shifter between covered storage, a stainless cupholder and modern Pioneer audio. A fresh headliner melts into pick-free door panels, which front remote locks and Nu Relics power windows. Naturally, all that hardware is founded on fade-free carpet that's protected by color-keyed mats. The driver guides a billet steering wheel around a polished, tilting column. And the passengers stash valuables in a remote-popped trunk that's finished with more red-stitched leather.
