DESCRIPTION

1999. We all thought we were going to be out of time, so the builder of this car decided to spare no expense in creating his dream cruiser that you see below.
First, the original chassis was stripped bare, and cleaned and trimmed of all unneeded brackets and parts.
A Fatman’s Fabrication front clip was installed, along with power rack and pinion steering and disc brakes up front, while the rear received a Fatman’s boxed chassis system with leaf springs, lowering blocks, and adjustable shock mounts.
A 10 bolt GM rear was installed and fit with 3.08 gears and 31 spline axle shafts to allow for high-speed long hauling, and a balanced driveshaft connected it to the fresh automatic transmission with mild shift kit.
Power came from a GMPP crate ZZ3 motor with a Corvette TPI system installed by Street & Performance, aluminum heads, and all aluminum pulleys and brackets. Professionally tuned, the motor is putting out 345hp and 385 ft/lb torque, and has plenty of oomph to get this AeroSedan down the highway.
The motor is dressed with all the chrome and billet that you could ask for, and it all gleams in the sun beautifully.
The engine bay itself is stunning, with a custom set back and smoothed firewall, cleanly done wiring, and not much in the way of exposed items to distract you from the engine itself.
The powertrain is about as flawless as you could ask for, with 23,000 odd miles crossing the Country under its belt, and NOT ONE BREAKDOWN the entire time! This car is so confidence inspiring, you might actually decide to TAKE that Route 66 trip you’ve been talking about, instead of just imagining it!
Power is smooth and on demand, and while the car will happily smoke the tires from a red light, it really shines when you hit the open road. I had the good fortune of taking this machine on a 340 mile round-trip here in Florida, and would have to say that I would have driven it ANYWHERE in the Country without hesitation.
It cruises at 80mph without issue, has tons of extra power on tap for passing and merging, and actually turned in about 17mpg which isn’t anything to sneeze at!
Handling and ride is modern and tight, and the car doesn’t do anything it isn’t supposed to when driving it.
With the A/C on full blast, it never got over 202, even while waiting to get into the show grounds in stop and go traffic for 30 minutes. Thanks to the high-flow water pump, massive electric fan, and the custom made WALKER OEM style full-flow radiator, it normally maintains a respectable 192 degrees.
The car doesn’t pull or wander, and you can brake as hard as you want to without have the car jerk of pull to one side. Brakes have great feel, no excessive modulation, and bring the car down from speed with ease.
Did I mention that this machine sounds fantastic too? The aluminized exhaust system with box mufflers has a fantastic rumble with just the right amount of bark when you whack the throttle. It is quite on the highway, and has none of that droning sound you get in some cars.
A poly gas tank was installed, and holds 20 gallons of good old pump gas, which is fine for this machine.
She rolls around on 15” Boyd Coddington rims with smooth knockoffs, and has recently installed BFGoodrich tires sized P255/60R15 in back and P195/60R15 up front. With the vast selection of rims and tires available today, you could easily stuff a much larger set up under her if that’s your taste.
The body has so many cool modifications it is hard to spot them all!
The biggest thing is the fact that the entire hood was cut down, angled, and painstakingly sectioned into the killer “nose down” stance you see today! From underneath or up top, the amount of work that went into this one single body mod is amazing, and the finished project separates this AeroSedan from all the rest! Everyone that sees it says it makes the car look fast standing still, and it kind of resembles one of the CarTOON Magazine caricatures you see.
Obviously, the hood and trunk were cleared of all trim and emblems along with the rest of the car, and the custom rear fenders are widened 2” to accommodate a larger diameter wheel/tire setup.
Tail lamps were frenched, door handles shaved, and all the steel panels were carefully aligned before the car was blocked and prepped for the PPG base/clear finish in Admiral Blue and Desert Cream.
The finish is glossy, slick, and wet, and as you can see in the photos, reflects like a mirror! It has a handful of tiny stone chips and blemishes from being driven across this great land of ours, but he was pretty good about touching them up with correct finish anytime it happened. The worst marks on the car are one on the driver side front end below the head lamp, and it is about 1/2 “ diameter from a rock in Arizona that was touched up with correct paint as best he could. The other is a set of chips around the nose of the hood from a hinge that came loose and cause it to close wrong a few years back. Other than that, we are talking stuff that is millimeters diameter and really not an issue in how the car presents at all. Stuff like little marks under the doors, marks under the rockers, and things like that.
The hand striping on the car is clean, and shows really well on the car.
5 rib Briz Bumpers were ordered for the car, and the custom brackets set them up close to the body for a super clean look. They are an afternoon of elbow grease and polish from gleaming like new.
Chrome side trim pieces look amazing, and carry the same ribbed look from the bumpers to the sides of the car.
Chrome window trim looks great, and the billet side mirrors and wiper arms are in great condition and would show like new again with a bit of the aforementioned elbow grease and polish.
Keep in mind, this car has NOT been formally detailed. It has been washed and dried, hit with Quickshine spray and had some tire shine put on it. The interior was wiped down and vacuumed, and this is how it looks! Imagine how amazing it will be when you actually take the time to clean all the nooks and crannies and really detail it up!
Glass is all clean and good, with no cracks or damage, and a nice tint to keep the sun at bay when cruising. Power windows roll up and down with ease, and the magnetic door opening system is a super cool way to access the car without ever having a thief figure it out!
Hidden trunk pull allows access to the carpeted and upholstered trunk with full-size spare, fuel fill with vent, trunk lighting, and hidden tool and battery box.
Inside the car, you are met by a clean and super comfortable interior that can seat 4 adults comfortably on a long cruise. 4 of us went on a big road trip in it, and no one complained the whole time, which is a rarity in Street Rod!
Seats fold forward so it is easy to get in back, and seat belts for everyone makes it safe.
Seats, side panels, kick panels, pillar covers, steering column cover, under dash panels, and door panels were all done to match professionally, and still show magnificently to this day!
Billet trim on the arm rests and door pulls compliments the ball-milled dash insert with Dakota Digital gauges and Vintage Air control panel, as well as the billet switchgear, vent surrounds, column drop, shift arm, signal arm, and hazard pull.
LOKAR supplied the billet gas and brake pedals, and the tilt column is topped with a GRANT GT leather wrapped wheel with CHEVY logo horn button.
Carpeting is clean and solid, but does show signs of age and wear from the car actually being driven. We have an estimate of $500 to completely replace it in case you want us to do it for you, but with the mats in place, you really don’t notice it too much, so it is your call. I would leave it like it is for a few more years and just drive and enjoy it!
Overhead console holds an AM-FM-CD stereo along with a dome light, and the stereo sounds fantastic thanks to an array of hidden speakers throughout the car.
Vintage Heat and AIR works like it should, is R134A throughout, and has no known issues.
All of the lights, wipers, horn, signals, hazards, and other items work like they should.
The car was NSRA safety inspected every year up until 2007, when he was unable to drive it that far to the event, but we have done a safety check on the car, and I see no reason it would not qualify again at any NSRA event. This is an extremely well-built machine that has proven itself time and again.
We have taken the time to service and inspect the car, and I have personally driven it over 400 miles myself.
It is a reliable and ready machine, and I would not hesitate to fly here and drive it home anywhere in the lower 48.
I have had it up to a GPS measured 85 mph on the freeway, and it handles and tracks without issue.
I have driven it in town and been stuck in beach traffic without issue.
This is a car that someone built to take their family on trips to car shows throughout the United States. This machine was designed to do that safely, reliably, and without worry. It is probably one of the nicest driving Street Machines you could ask for.
This car was a staple on the GoodGuys and NSRA National show circuit, and has been a winner of countless Trophies and Awards over the years. It was also a California Street Rod Association show winner, as well as having many other local and regional prizes to its name.
