Description:
1971 Chevrolet Nova
Well, I just don't drive it enough, so I am entertaining offers on my 1971 Nova Pro Street. The chassis is an Alston back-half with Art Morrison ladder bars, and was certified to 8.50, although it will need a re-cert. Seat belts are also expired. Car has current tags and is street driven. Clean title. Paint was $6K alone, and car has a fiberglass hood, fenders, doors, trunk, and bumpers. Lexan windows that go up or down (those are your two options) via rails in side doors. Front and back are still glass.Engine is a 355 small block with nodular iron main caps, a GM steel crank, BME Aluminum rods (the kind you can street drive), 12:1 JE pistons, and a 250/.560 lift solid cam (not a roller). Dart 230 iron heads, Victor Jr. intake, and a 750 carb. I would say the engine makes about 500 hp, but right now the timing is pulled back for pump gas. Motor was built for nitrous.
Transmission is a TH400 that's been rebuilt with good clutches, snap rings, and with a transbrake valvebody, and 3,500rpmSpec-Rite nitrous converter. The car also has a tubular steering column, has been completely re-wired with all the fuses mounted on the passenger's side floor. It also has Wilwood discs on all four corners. Front suspension has been extensively lightened, but is still a stock a-arm design.Mark Williams 12-bolt with 35 spline axles and 4.56 gears and a spool. M/T E.T. Streets on rear..31x16.50. Unlike many cars that say they're tubbed but they're really just mini tubbed, this car is the real deal, and had 33x14.5W slicks (17 inch section width) before the street tires were on it. There's an Aluminum fuel cell, A1000 pump, Griffin aluminum radiator with dual fans. MSD 7AL-2 with retard box. Car has won two "best drag car" at shows with previous owner.
It IS a drag car, so it does have a few blemishes, but is overall an easy 9 out of 10. I am sure I am forgetting a lot, but any questions just ask. Ran mid 7's in the eighth-mile on pump gas, so I would guess it would run high 11s on the motor in the quarter and probably 9s or 10's with a small shot of nitrous. Chassis has been deep 9s. Car is very light at 2,850 pounds with passenger's seat and 3-inch Dynomax exhaust system. This car is NOT JUNK and is as clean as it looks in the pictures.
The only downsides to the car are an oil pan that has been scraped a few times and has to be sealed with rtv during oil changes, and a small crack in the trunk (visible in one of the close up photos,) Also tires have flat spots and although the car has been driven (and raced) on them, they should be replaced. Car also has had it's neutral safety switch bypassed at the shifter. Even with these small issues, you can still jump in the car right now and drive through city traffic. Just have to be careful of speed bumps!
I paid $10,000 for the car as a rolling chassis, and if you've ever tried to tub and paint a car lately, you know that was a deal. I honestly believe that with nitrous, new tires, and a 10-second timeslip, it would be a $20,000-$25,000 car. I have set the reserve accordingly to reflect the small issues the car does have.
Reserve is very low compared to the other complete Pro Street cars out there. Item is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the sale if it sells here. Also would consider trades for a Cobra kit car, or 03-06 Dodge diesel 4x4 in excellent shape.
Thanks for looking, any questions just ask!

Edit: I added two pictures at the end with the slicks (and different exhaust)to show it can fit a bigger tire...also, wheelie bars are included, and forgot to mention the car has a "quiet" gear drive. Thanks!
