Hello
Over the past decade and a half, I have offered and sold many vehicles here on Ebay, most being classic muscle cars. As a rule, trades from my late model used vehicle dealership sales. I have always retained a 100% feedback, and intend that to continue. For a little over a year now, I have acquired these trade in’s as I usually do, but following the purchasing of our local NAPA Auto Care Center about a year and a half ago, my time to do this has been limited to bring them to market. Better late than never I suppose. I will be offering about a half dozen special interest cars my dealership has over the next month or so. The first of which is this absolutely beautiful and unique 1955 Chevy 2 door.
The 55 was traded for a later model corvette convertible a little over a year ago. It has resided in my showroom, other than the few times we have taken her out, ever since then. As you can see by the pictures, the previous owner spent years putting this very unique combination together. The entire restoration is documented in a photo album, which goes to the purchaser. From the underside, through the near perfect interior, the complete custom 348 W motor with triple deuces, 4 speed manual transmission to ultimately the beautiful paint and body, this 55 is one of a kind.
The gentleman and his wife traded for the sole reasons his wife wanted a convertible and couldn’t drive a stick. My wife and I drove their new Corvette to meet them at their home, about 350 miles away and returned home driving this car. Amazingly, both my wife and I felt this car drove nicer than the Corvette. It is a pleasure to drive and feel comfortable driving anywhere. I should note however it is geared fairly low and 75mph yields close to 3000rpm. Probably not a cross country cruiser unless you would like to have more of a hwy gearing installed. But, she is responsive, comfortable and easy to drive. The engine combo has good power, not a race car. Important to me is it’s drivable, quiet running car with a nice respectable rumble. Just enough to turn heads of patrons walking down the sidewalk at the beach as this car drives by.
Condition
The car is turnkey and ready to drive or show. It’s interior is quiet and beautifully done (pictures speak for themselves. The engine and transmission are completely redone and run and operate as they should. The engine bay looks like new as well as the underside of the car. Trim, body, interior, engine, transmission, gauges, ect… are nice and or new. All the glass is new.
What makes this one unique aside from the Blue metallic paint coupled with the diamond white, is the 348 Big Block with the three GM Rochester 2 barrel carburetors. One punch of the peddle and she’s off and running. As you could expect, being 1955 didn’t offer a big block, the firewall and a plethora of other modifications were required for the 348 and the 4 Speed transmission to be installed, although it looks factory done. The interior is absolutely pristine. Right down to the edges of the carpet that run up under the dash, that has been custom stitched as to not leave a rough cut edge. Interior trim is as new or restored. The gauges are all updated VDO single bezel with a digital odometer, obvious in good working order as they are new. All wiring was replaced with new including an updated modern fuse panel.
Moving the outside of the car, the body is completely redone professionally. Again, the build process is documented pretty well in a picture album It looks straight, clean and shiny. Have noticed two small chips that were touched up near the edge of the hood but are very minor. Just thought you should know. Tires are like new condition and wrap a set of Crager Dragstar style polished wheels. They look like new and as of our recent ventures this summer, they roll perfectly fine.
In a nutshell, it’s really an incredible car without trying to oversell it. You really couldn’t pay someone to put this package together for under $50 or $60K. I have built a few vintage Mustangs and that is conservative. My reserve is well below these figures I assure you. I have sold dozens of vehicles here on Ebay as well as purchase various items for my dealership and NAPA Auto Care facility, which my wife and I own and operate. All with a 100% feedback. That is only achieved by being descriptive and honest. That is what I have done here. I am a Michigan dealer and am insured and bonded. Title is in hand. If you live in Michigan, you will be subject to Michigan 6% Sales taxes. If you live out of Michigan but choose to pick your 55 Chevy up in person, you will have to pay either Michigan or your states reciprocal sales tax depending on your state stipulations. If you wonder about your state, drop me a question and I will response promptly. And finally, if you live out the state and have your purchase shipped by hired shipping service, you will not be required to pay sales tax here in Michigan. It is worth mentioning we do not charge any fees on top of your auction purchase, including documentation or service fees. Shipping is your responsibility. The car is 61 years old, as so it’s being sold, AS-IS, but will be as described above. You are welcomed to and encouraged to have the car inspected in person and is located in Whitehall Michigan at my dealership. I have a vehicle lift we can incorporate into your inspection if you so desire. My name is Kurt Bonner, owner of Whitehall Motors in Whitehall Michigan 49461 as well as our local NAPA Auto Care Service Center directly next door with ASE certified Techs on staff.
