NOTE: Our listings sometimes get rather lengthy. However, we continually hear from out of state / out of country buyers (many of our clients) that they prefer the level of detail that we provide. However, if you are not prepared to read multiple pages of description, we ask that you review the "Specifications" on the car along with viewing the photos. Also, if you'd prefer, please call us at 925-846-1451 and we'll gladly discuss the Nova SS and answer any questions over the telephone, including about our Buy it Now policies. Yes, the Nova can be purchased prior to the end of the eBay auction. Again, please give us a call for details.
ALSO, PLEASE NOTE: EACH TIME WE LIST A VEHICLE ON eBay WE RECEIVE COMMENTS THAT THERE ARE NO PHOTOS OF THE INTERIOR, ENGINE, UNDERCARRIAGE, ETC. OF THE CAR. THERE ARE 100 PHOTOS OF ALL AREAS OF THE CAR BUT, WHEN YOU REACH WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE LAST PHOTO, YOU WILL NEED TO SCROLL DOWN on eBay TO VIEW THE REMAINING PHOTOS. IF YOU ARE STILL UNABLE TO SEE THE PHOTOS, PLEASE CALL US AND WE WILL PROVIDE A LINK FOR THE PHOTOS (IT IS A VIOLATION OF eBay POLICY TO LIST THE URL ON THE eBay LISTING).
All of our photos are taken in natural light and we do not "Photo-Shop” or touch-up the photos in any way. The cosmetic quality of this 1963 Nova (both inside & out) is outstanding and the photos accurately reflect the condition of this spectacular & desirable 60's Muscle Car.
The "madness” of various auctions continues around the country. We often times see a wide range of collectible cars / special interest cars sell for inflated amounts in the "heat of the moment.” This Nova is offered at a realistic price considering the car's quality & history and, unlike bidding on cars in an auction environment, you will have the benefit of extensive information & history on the car prior to making a buying decision. Should you have an interest in a pre-purchase inspection, we encourage a thorough examination of the Nova.
Equally as important is the fact that Classic Cars Ltd. has been in business for close to 25 years and enjoys an excellent national / international relationship with 910~ positive eBay feedback items. We can provide references in addition to those left by customers at Yahoo Reviews, Classic Cars Ltd. Pleasanton, CA.
THANK YOU!

THIS PARTICULAR 1963 NOVA SUPER SPORT
Simply stated, this Nova is an absolutely striking example of the desirable 60's muscle car of the era. Not only has it been beautifully restored in its period, classic color of Silver Blue metallic (Code 912), the factory produced color, it has remained extremely stock in appearance, just the way it would have looked when it left the GM manufacturing plant. And, the best part? This car represents the epitome of a "No Expense Spared” frame-up restoration that carries full and complete receipt and photo documentation.
While the cars documentation is entirely too extensive to list item by item, the file contains information that supports the reason for the high quality of this car. One example is the 10 page typewritten document that details the work by the previous owners of the car in including even the smallest mechanical, cosmetic and item and repair. This comprehensive summary covers over a 25 year period including detailed documentation through July 2015. Subsequently, receipts are included that reflect work performed to the Nova from 2016 - present, including the following:
- Oil services
- A recent transmission filter, flush and fresh fluid
- New coolant and temperature sensor
- Carburetor tune and adjust to specifications
Also included are the following additional items of documentation:
- Complete binder with photo documentation, mechanical receipts and body work repair invoices
-Hagerty's Magazine with this Nova featured
- USA Today "Cars in the News” featuring this Nova
- Article on Chevrolet engines and power-trains
FEATURES - THIS PARTICULAR 1963 NOVA "SS”
Over the years we have seen we seen hundreds of so called restorations and, frankly, the quality of the cars vary considerably with many representing inexperience "garage restorations” lacking the quality of a professional restoration. We can say with no hesitation that this car represents the very high end of even professional restorations and would fare extremely well at any car show or gathering. Not only was a considerable amount invested in the exterior restoration (receipts of $20,000.00~!), the interior was totally restored to like new condition. The car retains its original factory appearance and looks like it rolled off the showroom floor shortly after 1963.
HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
- Exceptional paint and body quality, "Nut & Bolt” restored
- Complete & correct SS exterior and interior trim
- 100% stock appearance with no mechanical or other modifications
- Excellent panel fit, straight door, trunk and hood gaps
- Proper restoration with any rust or body work issues addressed at time of re-paint
- Totally rust free undercarriage, trunk and suspension components
- Highly detailed engine compartment and engine
- Completely restored interior with very high level of attention to detail
- Factory correct "SS” hubcaps
- Period style whitewall tires
- Rust free / damage free trunk jack, spare, lug wrench and spare tire cover
- NOS (New Old Stock) Chevrolet engine sourced and installed
- Comprehensive mechanical restoration to match cosmetic quality
We regularly see Nova SS that have been modified, abused and mistreated over the years but this car has been adult owned and with the intention of the owner retaining the car for a lifetime. It was not a car that received a quick, cosmetic restoration in order to simply "flip” the car for a profit. A substantial amount was invested making it one of the finest examples of a first year Nova available today. It represents a car that can be used and enjoyed for any number of reasons ranging from cruising to full blown shows.

CONDITION SUMMARY - 1963 NOVA SS
The ultimate goal with the restoration of the Nova SS was to create a totally original factory appearance while refurbishing / restoring almost every component. The car was disassembled and, with virtually all of the parts removed from the Nova, components were sorted, labeled and either rebuilt / restored or replaced with NOS (New Old Stock) parts where possible. Of course, some of the rubber trim, interior pieces and other "soft items” were sourced from new, quality manufactures. It is very important to note that, unlike many garage "restorations” this Nova was restored using original fasteners, clips, etc., not incorrect hardware from the local Hardware store. Nova SS enthusiasts will appreciate the difference and the value of a correct and proper restoration, especially on a locally manufactured Oakland, California car.
Mechanically, the car is very strong and drives exceptionally well. The undercarriage is very dry and totally free from rust and damage (refer to engine and undercarriage photos). There are no major leaks from the engine or other components. The car's factory new engine was located after considerable searching and it performs as you would expect; flawlessly. Of course, the car received new rubber trim, aluminum stainless trim as needed (either re-done or replaced) and engine fittings, clamps, etc. Wheels were restored and new tires installed. All areas of the car (engine bay, undercarriage, trunk and interior) were detailed.
The recent safety inspection gave the car a totally clean Bill of Health. Comments from the mechanic (a muscle car specialist and enthusiast) included "This is one of the prettiest and nicest driving Novas that I have ever seen.” The lighting system is completely functional. The Nova is smog exempt in California and, as a 1963 model year the car is 53 years old and our experience tells us is exempt in virtually every U.S. state and country.

1963 NOVA HISTORY
From its start as an economical small car to its rise to one of the best known muscle cars of its era, the Chevy Nova has long been a consumer favorite. It all began in a when Chevrolet introduced the Chevy Nova as a 1963 model compact car (in the day).
After losing some of the compact car market share in previous years to Ford, in 1960 Chevrolet went to the drawing board. They had visions of quickly producing a compact car for the masses that would be both economical and desirable. By late 1962, the first Chevy Nova rolled off the production line.
Despite the relatively short time between idea and launch, the Nova wasn't lacking in options. It was available in three different series and five different styles, giving the consumer plenty of choice and making the Nova a serious contender in the car market. There were two different engine choices: a 153, 4-cylinder and a 194 6-cylinder. Consumers also had the choice of three series - 100, 300, and 400.
One of the biggest sellers was the convertible 400 series. This was helped by a sticker price of only $2,475. Inflation adjusted, the 1962 Chevy Nova 400 series drop-top would sticker for less than $20,000 in 2014.
After getting a foothold in the market, it only took Chevrolet a year to bring out the Super Sport (SS) version of the Nova. The Chevy Nova SS hit dealer lots in late 1963 and was extremely well received. Still sporting the reliable and relatively strong194 cubic inch engine, the car offered very respectable performance due to its size and low weight. The "SS” was an attractive addition and included new emblems, additional interior and exterior trim, a floor shifter, and bucket seats.
The Nova's production continued until 1978 but fuel and emission regulations eventually resulted in the cars demise. The early cars are sought after by many collectors since they represent the first series of the Nova and many consider them the most "pure” examples of the car.
MISCELLANEOUS GENERAL INFORMATION
We have a number of additional, detailed photographs but are only able to show 100~ on our listings. Please let us know if we can provide additional detailed photos of any part of the Nova.
As with virtually all collector/specialty vehicles, we find that parts and resources are readily available for this (and most every vehicle), thanks in large part to the Internet!
In addition to the purchase price of the vehicle, California buyers will be subject to sales tax, documentation fee, DMV transfer fees and license/registration. Out-of-state buyers will be responsible for the purchase price of the vehicle and any local taxes/fees will be the purchaser's responsibility to pay in their respective state. IMPORTANT NOTE: If the vehicle is delivered or driven in California and driven on California roads, sales-tax, license registration and transfer fees will be assessed per California law.
While we encourage telephone calls to discuss this vehicle in greater detail and to obtain "Buy it Now” prices, quotes on shipping, and additional information on Classic Cars Ltd.
As with any collectible vehicle of this vintage we are unable to provide a warranty or guarantee of condition. However, we make every effort to accurately represent our vehicles, and highlight both positive items as well as areas that require attention. We ask that prospective buyers consider our eBay history/feedback, standing in the community, length of time in business, and other factors when purchasing a collectible vehicle from Classic Cars Ltd.
Please keep in mind that minor cosmetic issues/flaws may be present on every vehicle (regardless of cost) including small chips, nicks, scratches, etc. that can be seen on even the best restoration, or even a relatively new, used "pre-owned" vehicle. Also, ownership of a collectible / specialty vehicle is more enjoyable if the owner is familiar with the "realities" of these unique cars. Unlike more modern day vehicles, these cars require regular, ongoing care/maintenance and some mechanical knowledge, patience, and understanding can make the experience considerably more pleasant. That said, collector / "specialty" car owners will tell you (emphatically) that they love their cars and wouldn't trade them for anything!!
The information contained in this description is believed to be accurate but, in some instances, has been provided by the car's owner / owners or outside sources. As a result, we are unable to guarantee the accuracy of the information. We encourage verification of "numbers” and significant data prior to the purchase of any collector vehicle that you are considering.
PURCHASING A COLLECTOR VEHICLE - THINGS TO CONSIDER
As always, we recommend that you carefully review the seller's background of any collector car being sold over the Internet. We believe that it is important to ask yourself a number of questions including, but not limited to:
- How long have they been in business?
- How much experience do they have with collector cars?
- How many positive collector car vehicle sales have completed (positive eBay feedback)?
- How detailed/complete is the description of the vehicle?
- Do the photos show details of the interior, exterior, top, chrome, etc. or are they simply "Glamour Shots" taken from a distance?
- Does the seller have a Surety Bond to protect the financial transaction?
- What about insurance, licensing by the state, and a local business license?
- Does the seller (if a business) have any DMV (Motor Vehicle) complaints and/or other history of legal action, grievances?
- Does the seller enjoy a favorable local and national/international reputation?
- Can the seller assist with funding sources, transport and out of state/country sales?
