Description:
1967 Chevrolet Corvette
VIN: 194677S113573 Numbers matching with original L79 327/350HP motor, 4 speed, power brakes and steering, air conditioning, leather seats, cast aluminum bolt on wheels (repro) and Coker Redline Tires. New paint in original Marlboro Maroon color. Brakes, stainless steel exhaust, light tan soft top, weather stripping and carpet are all new. All courtesy lights and dash lights, including warning lights for emergency brake on and for lights on but retracted, are working as they should.Previous owner presented car as original mileage but I find that highly doubtful on a car this age. However, odometer is registering miles traveled accurately and currently shows 59567. Leather seats are solid but well creased and have been described by a custom upholstery shop as most likely original judging by materials used and construction technique.
It has a Custom Autosound Concours Series 4 Channel 200 Watt (50 x 4) AM/FM Radio with 18 FM and 6 AM Presets and Auxiliary Input with plug located in glove box for iPod, iPhone, Android, satellite radio tuner or any other device with a headphone jack. It is designed to look like the original radio and uses original control knobs for a totally original look. Speakers are Kenwood KFC-1064S Kick Panel Speakers and Kenwood KFC-835C Dual Center Speaker and it has a flush mount automatic power antenna.
A/C works but is very ineffective by today’s standards, however, it is all in place as factory equipped. There is a bubble in the passenger door panel armrest (outlined in photo), the trip meter doesn’t reset and the clock gains about 15 minutes in 24 hours. Those are the only flaws of which I am aware. The original (non working) radio, antenna and A/C parts that have been replaced have been saved and can go with the car if wanted.
I bought the car from a classics dealer in St Louis who had it on consignment. The seller would not communicate directly with prospective buyers, and, while he did respond to my inquiry after the sale, he was unable to provide any significant information on the car. Surprisingly, he had no interest in documentation, so had not obtained any from his seller, who by then was deceased, so no documentation was available to me. However, an inspection provided the following results:
• Compression: 1 = 130 / 2 = 135 / 3 = 130 / 4 = 135 / 5 = 140 / 6 = 135 / 7 = 130 / 8 = 135
• Oil pressure at idle: Cold 48 / Warm 35.
• Front end: Very recent complete rebuild.
• Brakes: Very recent complete rebuild including parking brake mechanism.
• Belts and hoses: All very recently renewed.
• Exhaust: Stainless Steel - all very recently renewed.
• Fluids: Lube / oil, filter & differential changed during the inspection.
Using Hagerty Evaluation Tools I would place the car’s condition midway between Condition 2 and 3 which would give it a market value of $83,550.00 as equipped. I just turned 72 and no longer have the same interests with performance cars that I once did. Also, I am finding myself spending most of my free time on my recent acquisition of a 1966 Thunderbird convertible to the neglect of my Corvette. The T-Bird is more comfortable for my old bones and better suited to my needs, so I have decided to part with my Corvette and hope to find a new owner who will have as much fun with it as I did.
Before I found this car I spent a long time sorting through the “completely original except for ……………..” and the small block cars with the big block Stinger Hoods and the “very rare”, or “the pristine”, or “stunning”…………etc. Although I came across some good cars in this group, there were none that quite lived up to all of the superlatives. So I will just summarize my car by saying it is not a show car and it is none of the above. It is simply a rock solid daily driver that does not have a single thing needing attention in order for it to have even the most minor of items in good working order.
