Description:

1962 Chevrolet Corvair

We purchased this car in 2010 from the first-hand owner. Since then, we've repaired and replaced lots of parts of the vehicle.
Most of the parts - such as the carpets, seatbelts, the complete gas tank, including the ~37 different items included belonging to that - were purchased from Clark's Corvair & LS Corvair Parts. Some of the items/work include, but are not limited to:
  • Side Mirror - One is installed on the car, the other is still in the box, will be given to buyer.
  • O-Ring, PG Shift able Enters Trans.
  • Air Cleaner Gasket (Sponge) 61-63
  • Starter Relay Kit-60-69 All
  • 62-69 Rotor
  • Non-GM Starter Solenoid (GM=C191)
  • 110 Fuel Live Set
  • VC Gasket
The transmission differential has been replaced in 2012 by Leon'sTransmissionService on Reseda Blvd. We have 3-4 invoices for that, which totaled over $1500. The gas tank is brand new, and cost us over $700 with the labor. The gas tank was replaced in 2012 by Willard Automotive. All these repairs and part purchases were by certified/authorizes resellers or mechanics - not street mechanics or us. Although the transmission is leaking when not in use for a long period of time, we have taken it back to the mechanic and they stated that because the transmission tray is partially cork-sealed, it will leak. In 2012, we also restored bothcarburetorswith WoodmanCarburetorShop in SFV. Before we installed the new carpet, the floor was sealed with rust-resistantsolution. Radio andantennaeis original. The serial number is original and in pictures.
The engine tray and fan were repainted with flame-resistantpaint. And thecarburetorfilter box was repainted along with a restored gas pipe - all red. Car paint in acceptable condition - no visible rust outside of the vehicle. The inside front and back hoods have original company manufactured paint and sealant. The inside trunk and engine area have original paint. Break pump inside the front hood is brand new, but the car break does make a noise so will probably need a break pad. Interiorcompletelyredone in 2011 with new vinyl seats and ceiling. The electric parts in photos are the replaced parts, so they are newer. The horn has been repaired and works.Engine belt is new.
The car is overall 80-90% original condition. We've been improving it since it was originally purchased by us, with only certified/legitimate parts from the Clark'sCatalog.
We have all the paperwork and repair/new item invoices for this car available and will give them to the buyer.
Engine has minor leak from one of the sealed washers - the mechanic said this can be replaced, but we never followed up because it wasn't a heavy flow. Spare tire needs to be reinstalled. We have the stand and tire, but the bolts are missing. Driver's side elastic door frame will be included with purchase but needs to be reinstalled. Original windshield and radio work. Does not have a water pump. Back light restored and flag car logo/emblem is new. Front trunk hood key doesn't open easily, but with both doors the key works fine. The ignition key works fine, too. The lights, electric, break light function. Chrome bottom left frame missing. Exhaust chamber needs to be reinstalled - I do have a spare chamber I can give with the car (hopefully it will match). The cardboard on the back window is original but has some wear and tear. The front dashboard is original but has a couple of small cracks. The steering wheel paint is slightly worn and minor cracks. When in use, the car doesn't leak. The photo that has 2 fingers pointing are referring to 2 dents on the front area. There is putty on the side of the car which was an attempt by previous owner to fix it from small accident, but it has never been fully fixed. Hubcaps good, some bumps. The elastic in the back engine hood frame has to be reglued - buyer will receive one to reglue.
The car has been registered until last week of 2016; it still has the 2016 sticker. As of last week, it's been taken off the insurance coverage, to be for sale. It'sderivablebut the brakes do require service.
The back and front bumpers have dents. Please examine all the photos and the Youtube slideshow thoroughly. If you have any questions or additional photo requests, please do not hesitate to ask!
