Description:
1950 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210
I bought this car in a estate auction with the roof already cut off and someone was making a full time convertible out of this car. I bought it because of how good the body was and to be original paint was a plus. I just sprayed three coats of clear on the original paint to save the patina look. The guy that was selling the cars out of his collection told me that this was was a running car but had been several years before they fired it up. I wasn't to worried about it running or not I thought it would make a nice summertime, spring and fall weather convertible to put a bone stock gm crate 350 with a 700 overdrive tranny in it for more highway driving and would be a cheap little setup for this car and it would be a dependable ratrod cruiser that you wouldn't have much invested in and you wouldn't have to worry about stuff getting scratched. If a person wanted there are several companies that make soft tops for these cars if you wanted one I wasn't worried about it. The interior needs work but the original seat frames are under the indian blankets so you can get the seats recovered to look better and make some doorpanels to cover would dress it up. The front floorboards and trunk pan need replacing in areas but the rear looks fine. Ive seen people lay street signs all over the floor and makes a cool floorboard in these cars. The body is nice except for a few little bitty holes on the upper rear bumper filler to body and a dent on the pass rear fender under the front of it and I think the driver rear has one like it to. This type of look on this car is perfect and I wouldn't fix anything I would just spend the money on the powertrain. I took out 3leif springs in the rear to get the lowered look and if someone wanted to add them back I have them and the front coil springs have never been touched I just lowered the rear to give it that kinda GASSER LOOK! All the brakes will need to be gone thru and replaced and needs some better tires these are dryrotted. Overall I think this little coupe will make someone a really cool and unique car to play around with and could be a cheap attention getter to cruise and hit some car shows or whatever in.
