SOLID PATINA, CUSTOM C-10 AIR RIDE SUSP, TBI 350 V8, AUTO, PWR STEER, SLAMMED!
1955 Chevrolet 3100
Confidence is cool, and patina shows a self-assurance that's becoming red-hot right now. But joining this what some call rat rod crowd doesn't mean giving up creature comforts beyond the tough appearance. Although this truck may look like it sat in a field for 30 years, and someone turned the key and drove it out one day, and slapped wheels on it, it isn't. This tri-five pickup body hides some exciting modern conveniences that will make any classic truck enthusiast happy. For starters, this body is all about being secretly rewarding. The solid 1955 Chevrolet 3100 cab and bed have been sprayed to look like it has spent a lifetime being a workhorse. The green paint is a fresh spray that was given the unique appearance of being worn down into patina. The white paint on the bumpers and grille in place of chrome adds to this truck's feeling of industrial roots, and it helps add to the patina attitude. The oak wood of the truck bed is a nice finishing touch that combines premium lumber with a worn-in character. But there is much more to this pickup than portraying six decades of preservation over restoration. The first place this is evident is on the modern Boss five-spoke 18-inch black sport wheels with chrome dishes. Get closer and you'll start to notice the new glass with new rubber seals that makes this a much more weather tight truck than first appearance might suggest. Open the door, and the pickup takes on a new attitude. It swings open with the kind of precision and strength that reminds you how deceptive the worn-look paint really is.The interior is one place where this truck shows off. The interior paint is about like what this truck could have had the day it left the factory in 1955, but the green accent has an obviously nicely upgraded metallic glow. This surrounds a new Auto Meter gauge cluster with critical info for oil pressure, water temperature, battery power, fuel, and speed. The bench seat out of a later full-size Chevy truck, and the vinyl has been recovered in a matching custom green and white tuck and roll. Other modern conveniences include the GT steering wheel that's connected to a tilt column and power steering. A nicely hidden piece on this truck is the AM/FM/MP3/iPod stereo integrated into the dash. And wait...what is that controller for on the seat?Well...once you get beneath this truck, you'll see how stealthy this body really is. The chassis was donated from a Chevrolet C10 that was sanded and painted before the body and cab was installed. The aforementioned controller is connected to a fully adjustable air ride suspension that rises for road trips, but then lets you slam this custom ride to the ground at car shows. The chassis was not the only engineering point that got this kind of modern upgrade attention. A 350 cubic-inch small block was installed under the hood. Because this is a 1993 unit, it features a more modern throttle body fuel injection. Less than 700 miles ago this motor was given a fresh tune-up, including new valve covers and gaskets. Included in the new build was a two chamber aluminum radiator and a dual chamber exhaust. This also features power brakes with discs in front. In fact, just about every mechanical piece of this truck has been upgraded. It's too long to list here, but we'll be happy to show you all of the finer points in person. This Chevy patina is an attitude that tells the world you have a different definition of cool, and by going for this worn-in appearance, this truck shares that notion. It almost looks like it shouldn't be able to drive as you pass everyone on the highway, with all the right comforts contained within...call now to let us give you all the details.
