Description:
1953 Chevrolet Corvette
You are bidding on a 1953 Corvette Roadster replica. The car is titled as a silver 1974 Corvette Roadster. It is a clean title. I purchased the car 3 years ago as a project. The body was made in Illinois by a company called Pugesek Motorsports. It is hand laid fiberglass as the original. The fit and finish is far superior than the original. It is painted a General Motors silver pearl with black stripe. Please see pictures. The body is a8 out of 10, as there are a couple of small stress cracks, only noticeable if you know where they are. The chrome on this car is all original 1953 Corvette chrome. It has never been replated, and is in good condition for the year. It adds a sense of originality and a nice patina. The door mirror is a 1967 Firebird mirror, as it is the closest looking mirror available. The rear view mirror is an Honest Charlie's Hotrod part, also similar to the original. The chrome is a 7 out of 10. The interior is all new. The carpet is original 1953 Corvette red. It is made by Al Knock. The floor mats are 1958 Corvette in black. The seats are recovered burgundy vinyl in an original style on original style frames. It has installed GM burgundy seat belts, lap only. The inside of the tonneau cover and trunk are covered in a black material. The shifter is a 1977 Trans Am with a custom made plate cover. It has a pistol grip shift handle. The steering column is General Motors G-Body, it has functioning tilt, turn signal, hazard lights and horn. There is an installed Honest Charlie's Hotrod billet steering hub with a custom leather wrapped wheel. The dash has a full set of VDO gauges. The interior shows a 9 out of 10. The chassis is custom made utilizing a 1969 Camaro front sub frame shortened and spliced into a 1956 Corvette X-frame. From the dog leg back, is custom fabricated 2 x 4 tubing. The rear houses a 10 bolt Camaro rear suspension with air shocks. The front suspension is also 1969 Camaro. This is a 4 wheel drum power brake car. Its stops VERY well. The emergency brake handle is from a 1988 Mustang and is connected to the original 1969 Camaro e-brake cables. The frame houses an all aluminum fuel tank which was custom made for this build. Fuel is filled through an original gas door. The rear differential has been serviced and inspected. There is no abnormal wear on the ring and pinion. It is an open carrier with a 3:08 ring gear. The transmission is a turbo hydramatic 350. It has been rebuilt to stock specification 500 miles ago. The engine is a brand new crate motor. It is a 350, 4 bolt main with a 300 HP camshaft. It has an Edelbrock 600 CFM carb and an Edelbrock performer intake. The distributor is a GM HEI unit completely rebuilt with all new parts. The complete motor has 155 miles on all rotating parts. This includes the water pump, the power steering pump, pulleys, belts, distributor, alternator, and engine. It runs perfectly. Less than 2000 RPM at 70 MPH. The exhaust is Corvette Ram horn into 2 1/4 inch duals through Thrush mufflers. It has a very low deep tone. It is not obnoxiously loud but you will hear it coming. The power steering pump and steering box as well as the lines are all new or rebuilt. All ball joints, tie rods, idler, pitman, are tight and show no wear. The alignment is laser straight. There is an electric fan installed and wired direct to ignition as the car fires the electric fan comes on. It runs at 200 degrees on the hottest days. The rolling chassis is a 9 out of 10. The rims and tires are staggered. The rear tires are 225/60/16 and the front are 205/55/16. This is the biggest wheel and tire combination that would fit. The rims are polished American Racing Torque Thrust II. The wheels are tires are an 8 out of 10. All lights, signals, hazard, brake lights are in perfect working order. Dash lights also work. This car starts, runs and drives perfectly. The bugs from this build have all been removed. The speedometer is accurate to 1 MPH. I do have a complete convertible top for this car. It is not installed. My personal opinion is that the top is ugly. It is the original styled top withzippered in side curtains. As this car is not driven in cold weather, rain, snowetc. I felt it unnecessary to have a roof. As the car doesn't have a roof, I also felt it unnecessary to install wipers. Wipers can be installed for $600. That is a complete kit. I will post a couple of videoson my Facebook page - one video will be this car driving and one will be a walk around with engine running. Search Facebook for - Old Town Auto Corvette. I have been restoring and building Corvettes for 25 years. This is my personal car. I am not a dealer. I will assist the purchaser with safely shipping the car, ALL shipping costs are to be paid for by the purchaser. I would be willing to trailer the car to the US border between Buffalo/Niagara and Fort Erie Peace bridge. Full payment must be made within7 days of auction close or you forfeit. I am selling this car for the sum of its parts - not including labor to build. It is $10000 less than a comparable AC Cobra kit car. The difference is NO ONE has one of these. If I have failed to comment on an area of the car in my ad, please send me your questions. If you want any specific pictures, please send me a request. I try to be as accurate as possible. This car is everything the pictures suggest.Vehicle Details:
