Description:

1972 Chevrolet Suburban Cheyenne C10 2WD Dual A/C Frame up Restoration

Bad all the way to the bone...goes like a two ton Corvette with dual A/C blasting!

DRD got this stunning Sub out of long term storage from a seller unfortunately having to part with their toys and properties. Truck was anall new frameup restoration built inAuburn CAinthe late 1990's. Hereit is on the cover ofAutotrader inDec 2000where the last owner saw it loved it and paid an extra $1000 over asking to get to it first....remember Autotrader? LOL before the internet & ebay replaced it...those were good times.

Fast forward to April 2015 the truck hadn't changed a bit even the same tires...all be it covered in dust. New owner had sunk some money into remote power locks which is pretty cool but the truck was ready for some conditioning.

Upon acquiringDRD did the following:

Charged the a/c system (5 flippin' pounds of R134) twin radiator electric cooling fans keep this thing nice and chilly inside even on 100+degreedays.

New Battery.

New fuel and tune up drive line and carrier bearing all done at Honest Engine of Midtown Sacramento.

Replaced the wheels and tires with factory 15x8 rally wheels and newer BF Goodrich Radial T/A 275/60/15's all the way around with 1 1/4" rear wheel spacers/adaptors to even it out.

Brand new Cheyenne wood grain side molding set and Cheyenne10 emblems.

Had the top painted in 2 stage GM 72 White.

Removed what seemed like an endless amount of limo tint exposinggorgeous all original soft ray factory glass.

Washed polished and detailed inside and out.

Truck runs and drives absolutely outstanding. No longer new but with very low miles the 350 motor sounds incredible exhaling through hooker headers and stainless dual exhaust all the way to the tailgate (brief video of motor running below).

Turbo 350 Trans is also no longer new but really low miles and shifts super solid with mild shift kit.

Truck is geared perfectly with longer 3rd gear (drive) that goes down the freeway at 65-70 effortlessly. Rear end was also new at time of build.

Interior is unbelievably perfect still. No odors stains rips or fading. Tasteful fully custom Seal Grey tweed throughoutwith new updated shoulder seat belts all new gauges chrome trim rubber and felts. Really outstanding floor to ceiling.

Truck is lowered with springs dropped A arms and shorter shocks balanced and aligned properly. Heavy duty aftermarket swaybars front and rear. Full rear air bag system with tank & compressor in the engine bay and gauge & power in the glove box. This system was set up for the purposes of raising the rear to stock height for towing. Truck sits without air in the pictures below. System is working however a few airline leaks andaged bags are now past the point of functioning. With new lines new bags and a lower rear spring set the system could be used to set the truck much lower if desired. Truck rides beautifully at this level and does not bottom out ride stiff or bounce. Glides down the freeway with no wind wander rattles or wind noise with windows up.

Other than the airbag system everything else works on the truck....everything period.

Paint is remarkable for it's age and this truck was a glass out interior out redo. All seals and rubber were brand new in 2000 and remain perfect today. Truck didn't get enough miles to even really develop road chips. Barely noticeable but unfortunately while in storage rafter dwelling birds left their mark on the hood and top ever so slightly etching the clear coat in spots. The top was repainted white and is perfect. The hood could be mended or even re-cleared but is so slight I think most would be able to live with it as is. You have to be looking for it (up close in the right lighting) to even see it.

By most standards the truck would be described as rust free and is a super dry CA example however in full discloser I have taken close ups of any dimple or raw surface area I could find.

Custom tow package with hidden hitch and bottom out plates.

Also included are an optional/extra woodgrain steering wheel spare tire rear a/c vents (needed for replacing but mounting housings need to be sourced first) original autotrader issue of sale in 2000 some early records and receipts and 2 keys with keyless entry/alarm fobs (these work marginally but do come in handy).

This Suburban is most likely one of the best surviving examples left today and evenbetter in person than it looks here on this listing. You have to drive it to fully respect (and enjoy) the work and build quality of this restoration. PPI or test drives welcomed prior to auction end.
