1932 Chevrolet Series BA Confederate Cabriolet

This elegant 1932 Chevrolet Cabriolet convertible touts the nickname “The Baby Cadillac”. It was produced during a time when many Americans could not afford food, let alone a car. But Chevrolet took the risk and offered an affordable, yet very tasteful luxury automobile that soon became a hit.

Chromed landau bars, cowl lamps, hood side doors, spoke rings/covers and twin trumpet horns are all in place on this remarkable restoration. The chromed engine side vents were part of the DeLuxe package as were many of the optional accessories on this car. The vents are fully operational as is the fresh air cowl vent, operated from the passenger compartment.

This 2-4 passenger Cabriolet also features the rumble seat and low boy luggage rack. On the interior you will find the original seating configuration (with adjustable seat), the original gauges and working handbrake assembly.

Factory literature boasts 70 MPH top speeds with this model. 1932 was the first year of Chevrolet’s synchromesh transmission, the most notable improvement on the 1932 Chevrolet models. This model also features Chevrolet’s “free wheeling” technology, which was first offered in 1932. Initially touted as an economy feature, it allowed the car to coast when the driver’s foot was lifted from the accelerator pedal, but later fell from public favor due to safety concerns.

The car was discovered rotting in the yard of an elderly Italian couple in Omaha, Nebraska by its second owner. Being an avid collector, he purchased it but quickly sold it to another friend and restoration expert. He and his son later restored the car 45 years later along with the help of the 2nd owner. It was both of their last restoration projects. When the restoration was complete in 2012, they took it to World of Wheels where it won Best in Class.

The car has 189 miles on it since the full restoration. It is garage kept and regularly maintained by a classic car collector and his team of mechanics. There is also extra chrome all over the engine and accents on the car. The restorers owned the only chrome shop in town!! This is truly a show car that should win you first place but also be great to take out and grab some ice cream down the street.
