1971 Corvette Coupe
1971 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
Body off frame restoration about 90% complete. I'd like to finish but I have a pressing financial need that dictates I sell something. I'm putting this Vette and a piece of land up for sale and will keep one if the other sells. This car is painted the rare Steel Cities Grey Metallic offered only in 1971 and 1972. It is NOT a numbers matching car (however, the vin plate, the vin on the frame and the vin on the title do "match"). This car has a rebuilt "era correct" 350 Corvette engine with a rebuilt TH400 turbo automatic transmission. It will need the following to complete the restoration: 1. Wiring harness - prudent thing to do on a 45 year old car. I'm running and driving it currently on temporary ignition wiring and gauges 2. Carpet (the seat covers have already been replaced) 3. Maybe one door panel. One is in excellent condition & the other has some cracks where your elbow rests. 4. Weatherstripping. I have the new rear window gasket already. 5. New rear bumpers or rechrome the existing ones. 6. Install AC, heater components and rework as needed 7. Wet sand and buff the paint to enhance the new paint quality. 8. Miscellaneous small items (headlight vacuum, hood latch cables, etc.) Following is a partial listing of things that have been completed: 1. Body removed and frame media blasted and painted. Bottom of body primed and painted also. 2. All new suspension items including ball joints, control arm bushings, tie rod ends, stainless steel brake calipers, new brake lines and new rotors. 3. New u-joints and spindle bearings 4. Shocks 5. Gas tank 6. Engine rebuilt with rebuilt carb, new starter, water pump, fuel pump, wires, plugs, mounts, etc. 7. Transmission rebuilt 8. New windshield 9. New seat covers 10. New dash overlay 11. As seen in the photos, the car also has a completely new exhaust system from the manifolds to the mufflers. Also, the original color was Warbonnet Yellow.

The 59000 miles showing on the odometer may very well be the correct miles for this car. The frame had only slight surface rust with zero rot and zero repairs needed. The brake pedal has only slight wear. None of the suspension bushings (control arm, ball joints, tie rod ends) showed any major wear. I just wanted to change everything due to age.

I have a Mid America "Assembly Instruction Manual 71 Corvette" that is very helpful in the restoration process, especially for wiring and vacuum hose diagrams. It will be included in the sale of the car.
