Description:
1955 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210
We are selling this car for our friend who has owned it for 21 years. We are not dealers. This is a private sale from the owner. This car has not been for sale in 21 years. This ebay listing is its first advertisement. The car has been driven about 2000 miles in the last 21 years. The engine is a 350 small block Chevy from the early '70s. It was rebuilt 1200 miles ago with new pistons, rods, etc. The 4-barrel carb and the manifold are Edelbrock. It has Mallory ignition and Hooker headers. The transmission is a Muncie 4 speed with a Hurst shifter. Gears are 335. The differential has been rebuilt. It has front disk brakes. The clutch was replaced in 2015. New gas tank and sending unit. The car was completely rewired in 2013. The tachometer and gauges are Sun. The rims are Centerline and the tires are Bridgestone.
The chrome is in great condition. All new side glass with chrome frames was installed about 5 years ago.
The car was painted about 23 years ago and the paint is in exceptional condition. There are a few chips on the front of the hood and a small imperfection on the driver's front fender (see close-up photo).
The interior is also about 23 years old. It is very nicely done and the cranberry color matches the exterior paint beautifully. The trunk was done when the interior was installed.
The body has never been removed from the frame. The frame is fine but there has been some rust repair work done on the front and rear drivers and passenger floors and to the floor support braces.
The car has had the heater removed. The only mechanical issues we see are leaking front shocks, a small oil leak at the distributor and a missing cover plate over the flywheel.
The car drives very well. It is fast and smooth. The disk brakes are excellent. The engine runs great with no issues. The transmission is excellent.
This car has never been parked outside in the last 21 years. Always stored in clean dry surroundings.
The car has a completely transferable New York State registration in proper order. It is located about 20 miles from Rochester, New York and we encourage interested buyers to come inspect and drive the car. If you fly into the Rochester airport we can pick you up and bring you to the car for a personal inspection and a test drive. If you are unable to come personally, there are several top notch classic car restoration companies in Rochester who will inspect the car on your behalf. We can provide that information.
