Description:

1962 Chevrolet Corvette

The car mechanically is very original from what I can tell. According to the C1 registry the car was "born" on November 18th, 1961. It has it's original 327 340HP solid lifter engine (the RE engine with correct VIN is dated October 27th..... F1027RE), original transmission and a date correct posi differential which I assume is original to the car as well. The car drives amazing as it has a bolt in Jim Meyers front suspension with rack and pinion steering, coil overs, front disc brakes and dual reservoir master cylinder. It has two tops. The hardtop I believe is original to the car also as the Plexiglas is date correct for the build date of the car (November 1961).It's an original Honduras Maroon car (I think) that is currently painted Roman Red.The rear wheel openings were radiused years ago but were done nicely. I wasn't even aware of it until it was pointed out by someone far more knowledgeable than me.
The car is a nice car that needs very little. Here are the items on my list to address.
- Driver's rear brake cylinder is leaking. I have a replacement, just have not had time to install it.- Carpet is sun faded. I think it could be redyed and look great, it just wasn't that important to me.- There is a small chunk of fiberglass missing on the driver's door. It was like this when I bought the car.- The wiring harness had an aftermarket fuse panel installed at some point prior to me purchasing it. Everything works on the car but I do have a new wiring harness to install.
The car has an AM-FM/iPod/Aux radio that is a replica of the original radio including a working Wonderbar. I paid $700 for the stereo last winter.
The car also has LED tail lights and marker lights.
For the asking price the car will come with steel wheels and caps or Cragar's. Buyer's choice. The car is currently registered in Alberta but I do have the Massachusetts title from when it was imported into Canada around 2005.
April 2nd, 2016Beautiful day in Alberta today........72F.I took the car for a 50 mile drive. The car drove great after a winter hibernation. One thing I noticed was the temp gauge was showing the engine was running at around 210F. I checked the engine with my infrared temperature gun and the hottest the engine showed was 165F at the thermostat housing. I'm assuming the temperature sending unit needs replacing.
