1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454

Here it is, the Chevelle you've been waiting for. 1970 is the all-time favorite for a lot of Chevy fans, and this incredible SS454 gets everything right: matching-numbers LS5, 4-speed, factory A/C, and a rotisserie restoration. This is the one you've been waiting for.Cranberry Red is the quintessential SS color and in 1970, it acted as a bright red warning to anyone else wanting to do combat on the streets. This gorgeous Chevelle comes from the Buddy Herin collection, and if you're familiar with Buddy, you know his stuff was only the best. As a result, it's been restored to better-than-new condition in every way, with paint that's miles deep, a slick finish that feels like it's still wet, and that classic performance look that makes this one of the most highly-sought muscle cars of all time. It's also worth noting that Cranberry Red was this car's original color, so that's another notch in its desirability quotient. It's got all the right markings, too, from the SS emblems to the cowl induction hood (fully functional, by the way), and the SS stripes that accent the hood and trunk. Add in a few well-placed chrome pieces to highlight the shape, all of which have been beautifully restored, and you have a car that not only looks fantastic but also represents the very best of GM in the muscle car era.The white interior is an uncommon sight in one of these cars, and the two-tone look works exceedingly well here. The white upholstery has a pearl white finish, a lot like Pontiac's Parchment interiors (which isn't a surprise, since many Chevelles got Pontiac, Buick, or Oldsmobile interiors due to a fire at the plant that made the seat covers), and everything is in almost new condition. Carpets, door panels, and even the dash pad are unmarked, and with white upholstery, that's no easy feat. The round gauges are more proof of this car's excellent pedigree and it includes a correct 6500 RPM redline tach. Other valuable options include factory A/C, an AM/FM radio, power windows, and even a tilt steering column, all rather rare finds in a street brawler LS5. Of course, the real highlight of the interior is the center console with a Hurst shifter on the 4-speed manual gearbox. The trunk is correctly detailed with a reproduction mat and original-style bias-ply spare tire with jack assembly. There's no question that this is the car's original, numbers-matching LS5 454 cubic inch V8. Fully rebuilt to stock 360 horsepower specs, it runs beautifully and looks right with a coat of Chevy Orange under the big cowl induction air cleaner. Little things are right, including the fasteners, hoses, clamps, and wiring, and it's all in almost new condition. Turn the key and it lights off easily with a great rumble from the reproduction exhaust system, and thanks to the LS5's milder cam, it idles smoothly and doesn't get cranky in traffic. The 4-speed manual transmission also appears to be original to the car and it feeds a correct 12-bolt that's been restored with factory-style markings. The floors sparkle so well that they look nicer than many of the cars you see at cruise nights and all the hardware is correct, including the sway bars fore and aft. A new gas tank hangs out back and it sits on correct SS wheels with proper G70-14 Firestone Wide Oval bias-ply tires. This car is every bit as impressive as you're hoping it is. It's got all the right features, a great pedigree, and there's simply nothing better than a big block Chevelle with a manual gearbox. Call today!
