Regarding the question I was posed about the sheet metal;

This convertible was purchased in 04 for $20k as a nice southern state driver quality car. Having enjoyed the car so much I decided I was going to keep it for ever. I decided to bring it to a higher level and conduct a complete quality restoration on it. I'll talk about the sheet metal;. While the body was removed from the frame we found that typical rust had been lurking between the floor supports and the floor pan itself and began to perforate near the edges. Most would have patched the very small and few area but as a keeper I did not want to deal with this issues again later on. The areas between the floor bracing and the floor pan are inaccessible and cannot be painted hence the rust and eventual rott. The quality fix is to replace the entire pan and supports.....an expensive undertaking for certain and not typically done even on "rottiserie" cars. Quality car gets quality fix; The car was put on a rotisserie and then the jambs had braces welded in to keep the chassis from flexing while a complete firewall to rear axle floor pan with supports was installed. This is VERY high quality work which is indistinguishable from the original and is absolutely rust and pitt free. There will be no rust concerns on this chevelle. The front body supports on these hold water and dirt and are prone to rust as well. These could have been easily patched but instead were removed and replaced. The trunk pan and one extension was partially replaced as was the rear filler panel due to some patch work done previously. The wheel houses were repaired due to very minor issues. At some point I could see someone put new 3/4 rear quarters L & R which only needed fine tuning are now well done and certainly rust free . The drivers door was replaced due to perforations in the inner bottom shell.....again could have been patched or filled.....but unacceptable on this car.The R rocker was replaced due to a sloping damage area likely from bottoming out on something. The inner rocker was blasted and coated. The drivers rocker (L) was clean in and out and was also internally coated to prevent corrosion. My obvious obsession with completely removing rust extended to the frame which was sand blasted then acid dipped for 2 weeks. This process removed any and all rust inside the frame...it came out of the tank looking like a brand new part. The ensure its immortality to the elements The frame inside was coated with 3m corrosion control and then scoped with a plumbers camera to be certain every inch was coated. The outside of the frame was sealed with a smooth durable line-x coating ensuring that it will stay beautiful and rust free for decades. This thorough and high quality theme carried over into the entire restoration. No expense or time spared. Know your getting the best here. The pictures do this car little justice. As nice as they are this car is just stunning in person. I always get compliments from body guys about perfect panel fitment and the amazing straight sheet metal covered in the very deep black. Thank you.
