If you want to create a crowd-pleasing custom, here are a few simple rules to follow. For starters, ase your build around a popular model. Keep the paint scheme simple, he wheels tasteful and make sure to dial in the stance. And, or best results, hrow in plenty of power, capable chassis and a sleek custom interior that's wrapped in carefully chosen materials. It's much more difficult than it sounds, ut this sinister Camaro adheres to that formula for a result that's nothing short of spectacular. Blending brutal small block power and a smooth R4 transmission with a modern chassis and taught, ustom upholstery, very aspect of this stunning F-Body has been taken from "good" to "BEST". And if you're ready to wow the show field AND rule the strip, t's your chance to change the game!
BODYWORK/TRIM
Fresh out of a detailed, round-up restoration, his sweet F1 is a solid, ell-preserved bowtie that sports many attractive modifications. When the car was still in bare metal, ach of its panels was meticulously worked and sanded to create a laser-straight profile. That smooth fuselage was supplemented with a custom valance, filled cowl, haved drip rails and high quality Detroit Speed mini tubs. After all that hardware was test fitted, tunning BASF Diamont Carizzma Candy Ruby Red base was sealed in glossy clear and buffed to a glare-inducing shine. That sweet pigment was complemented with a Charcoal taillight panel and traditional Charcoal hockey stripes. And today, his Chevy rolls as one red-hot trophy winner that's primed for sprained necks and strained eyes!
When it comes to muscle cars and body modifications, t's best to de-emphasize ornamentation. Too many era-correct bits will make the build look disjointed, nd too much chrome just makes everything look tacky. Thankfully, his Chevy's builder did a great job of placing form over function and keeping add-ons to a minimum. At the front of the car, etroit Speed headlights center a shaved Rally Sport grille above a chrome bumper, ED parking lamps and a familiar D80 chin spoiler. Above that grille, shaved header draws the eye to a cowl induction hood, hich founds fresh glass behind bright frames and polished wipers. At the sides of that hood, shaved profile hangs factory door handles and dent-free wheel trim beneath what appear to be fifth generation Corvette mirrors. And at the back of the car, second chrome bumper reflects a billet fuel filler, illet LED taillights and a familiar D80 deck spoiler.
ENGINE
An awesome pro-tourer is an awesome pro-tourer, o matter what engine is jammed between its fenders. That said, t's always nice to see a well-restored classic that sticks to the proven formula of topping a massaged Chevrolet small block with traditional carbureted induction. And, hile this balanced and blueprinted powerplant's exact performance numbers have been left to the imagination, e do know the engine is believed to produce over 400 horsepower. At the top of the 383 cubic inch mill, 770cfm Holley bridges the gap between braided fuel lines, stylish air cleaner, small Holley pressure gauge and an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap. That air/fuel mixture floods 195cc Air Flow Research heads, hich hide Comp Ultra Gold rollers under trick, olor-keyed covers. Those rockers are propelled by a forged Eagle crank, hich pushes coated Mahle pistons and forged Eagle rods beneath a hydraulic Comp cam. That assembly gets sparked by an aftermarket distributor, hich sequences fire through thick MSD Super Conductor plug wires. Below those wires, ooker Super Competition headers make quick work of spent gases. At the front of those headers, leek Concept One pulleys spin an Edelbrock water pump between modern power steering, color-keyed alternator and modern air conditioning. Cooling comes courtesy of a big aluminum radiator, hich funnels anti-freeze around a small expansion tank and two SPAL puller fans. And, esthetically, he engine compartment is as clean as a laboratory, rapping monochromatic paint in a smoothed firewall, clean hood filler, ydraulic hood supports and a large radiator closeout panel.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Park this Camaro on a lift and you'll find solid floorpans that frame modern componentry in a full appropriation of clean undercoating. Behind the buff 383, Bowtie Overdrives 200R4 4-speed twists power to a tough Ford 9-inch that's stuffed with a Truetrac differential, 1-spline axles and friendly 3.55 gears. Those gears ride an adjustable Detroit Speed QUADRALink. Opposite that clip, hydroformed Detroit Speed front-half hangs power rack-and-pinion steering and sixth generation Corvette steering knuckles between tubular control arms, djustable coil-overs and a splined sway bar. At the corners of that suspension, and 6-piston Wilwood calipers bridge the gap between a Wilwood master cylinder and 14-inch drilled and slotted rotors. Fuel is supplied by a swift electric pump, hich siphons a Rock Valley stainless tank that was specifically designed to clear the car's Detroit Speed mini tubs. Charred dinosaurs float from the aforementioned headers in to a large, andrel-bent exhaust system, hich positions mean Borla ProXS mufflers behind an X-shaped SpinTech crossover. Torque transitions to pavement through painted Rated-X Rushforths, hich spin 245/40R18 Nitto NT05s in front of 335/30ZR19 Nitto NT05s. And everything, rom the car's finned oil pan to its sturdy Detroit Speed subframe connectors, s clean, ucid and ready to roll.
INTERIOR
Hit this Chevy's keyless entry and you'll find a custom leather interior that wraps red-stitched seats in a nice blend of classic flash and modern flair. In front of those seats, Charcoal dash hangs custom-trimmed Auto Meter Carbon Fiber Ultra-Lite telemetry beside Vintage Air climate control and a modern JVC CD player. Below that dash, custom console balances custom accessory gauges and a precise horseshoe shifter between silver-trimmed foot pedals, olor-keyed floor mats and high quality Dynamat insulation. Opposite that console, esler side panels found small tweeters, illet door hardware and large JBL kick speakers between clean sills, odern power windows and aftermarket jamb vents. Above those panels, 1-piece Marquez Design headliner flows to big deck speakers and a custom package tray. In front of the driver, n aggressive Billet Specialties steering wheel laps a tilting Ididit column. And behind the passengers, custom trunk features more leather panels, atching carpet and more billet trim.
Well-built, ully detailed and attention grabbing in every way, his Camaro finds the perfect midpoint between show and go. And, reated in adherence to the basic tenants of custom-car building, ou can rest assured that its appeal won't fade with time.
