SURVIVOR W/ 1 REPAINT, #'S MATCHING L48 350, BELIEVED TO BE 9,400 ORIG MILES
1979 Chevrolet Corvette
This 1979 Chevrolet Corvette represents one heck of an opportunity to get into the hobby in a big way. It's priced quite reasonably, et it'll get you admission to every big Corvette event in the country. Why? It shows just 9400 original miles, figure we have no reason to dispute. Yes, hat's right, n A-list, ow-mileage survivor for the price of a used beater. This is an awesome find! The Dark Metallic Green paint is either a single older repaint or even original paint with a coat of clear over it, e're not quite certain, ut the look is authentic and the car certainly looks every bit the part of a well-cared-for original piece. The fiberglass is in excellent condition, ven the urethane bumper caps, nd there's a soft shine that's very much a look from the '70s. There are obviously no modifications or questionable upgrades, ot even a pinstripe, o detract from this car's authenticity. The dark green suits the late '70s shape rather well, dding a dignified look to a car that was more grand tourer than sports car by the time this one was built. Details like the taillights lenses, eather stripping, nd the black rubber bumper guards are all in excellent condition, ore evidence that this is a genuine low-mileage machine. The dark green leather interior is just wonderfully preserved, ith a comfortable look that shows a few signs of age but nothing that would suggest that the mileage isn't authentic. The bucket seats are as comfortable as they look and the original carpets remain in excellent shape. The door panels look almost new, ithout even a small dent where the driver's elbow might have rested, nd the dash pad is excellent with no cracks or fading. Full instrumentation was part of the Corvette's package, nd the bright analog gauges are easy to read and fully functional. There's also an AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit that was original equipment, s well as factory A/C. In 1979, ll Corvettes were T-tops, nd the rear compartment still carries the original belts for strapping the tops in place and there's almost no evidence of UV damage on the dark green carpets. The engine is the original, umbers-matching L48 350 cubic inch V8 and if you didn't believe the mileage by looking at the interior and bodywork, ou'll believe it after seeing the engine bay. The air cleaner, he engine enamel, he fittings, he hoses, nd the hardware all look just as they did rolling off the assembly line 36 years ago. It's packed in there rather tightly, ut you can see that the engine still wears corporate blue paint, he cad plated parts are still nice, ut not perfect, nd factory-style clamps and original decals are all still in place. It runs beautifully with a nice V8 rumble from the factory exhaust system, hich still uses a giant pancake-style catalytic converter. The TH350 3-speed automatic transmission shifts crisply and the chassis is unquestionably original, ith only surface scale on the heavy metal parts. It rides and handles well, ust as you'd expect from a car that's see so little use, nd the classic aluminum wheels are unmarked and carry 225/70/15 Goodyear Eagle radials, erhaps only the second set of tires it's ever worn.Documented with the original owner's manual and Protect-O-Plate, his is an incredible find, articularly at this price.
