1957 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210
Cars that were labors of love tend to stand out. It's hard to pinpoint what, xactly, akes them special, ut when this 1957 Chevy Bel Air 2-door post coupe showed up, t had that certain something that made us all take a few extra minutes checking it out. Go ahead and look at the photos, nd I'll bet you say, Wow," when you see all the details.Smart builders always leave the '57 Chevy's sheetmetal alone and concentrate on making it as straight as possible instead, nd that's certainly the case here. White may not seem all that sexy at first glance, ut take a closer look at this one: it's not white, t's a prismatic pearl that glows in the sunlight and casts all kinds of wonderful reflections in its flanks. It's not perfect, ut if you're sick of looking at red and black '57s, his one is a welcome relief that stands out in a crowd. The trim makes the Bel Air special, nd it's all there and in mostly original condition, o it has a nice shine but isn't perfect, nd the door handles could probably be replaced to really upgrade the look. The stylish interior shows off the plenty of custom work, earing white vinyl upholstery that looks a lot like what this car might have carried when it was new. Custom door panels were created to match, nd there's a white headliner overhead as well. To add some contrast, ed pearl was used on the dash, teering column and even the steering wheel, nd with the brilliant white exterior and upholstery, t looks awesome. The instrument panel still carries the original speedometer, hich is flanked by the stock auxiliary gauges, ut there's also a tach on top of the dash and the usual trio of auxiliary gauges underneath. Of course, he car's most noteworthy upgrade is the 5-speed manual transmission, nd they've chosen a suitably long Hurst shifter to make it look vintage. An AM/FM stereo slots neatly into the dash so nothing was hacked up and the trunk is finished with black felt that gives it a finished look that's about right for a trunk. The 350 under the hood looks great and you know where the big money was spent on this build. Horsepower builders include an Edelbrock Performer intake and Holley 4-barrel carburetor, s well as a set of long-tube headers that connect to a beautifully fabricated Flowmaster exhaust system. A full chrome dress-up kit gives it the appropriate amount of sparkle, nd a big aluminum radiator up front keeps it cool no matter what the outside temperature. It's backed by the aforementioned Tremec 5-speed manual gearbox, hich promises easy cruising and impressive fuel economy. A power steering box improves responsiveness and power front disc brakes are a great safety upgrade. 15-inch chrome Ridler wheels are a modern take on the classic Torque Thrust and wear 225/60/15 radials that fill the wheel wells nicely.A great driver-grade build done by a guy who did it because he was fulfilling a dream, ot looking for a return on his investment.
