History of the 1950 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe:
It was in 1948 when Cadillac saw its first major post-war redesign, which was inspired by an aircraft design that can be seen across all models, and the first visible rear tailfins on the fenders. In 1949, an all-new OHV V8 engine would find its way under the hood, which would go on to prove to be one of the industry's most successful, long-lived engines! The new highly appreciated motors were not just smaller and lighter, they also provided higher compression and a total of 160 horsepower with 312 lb. ft. of torque. The 4-speed Hydra-Matic transmission, along with the new one-piece windshields and revised body lines that showcased longer hoods and an overall lower stance, would all become standard equipment in 1950. A look Cadillac would savor all throughout the 1950s!
