Description:

1957 Cadillac Eldorado Series 62

This is a 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Seville, designed as a hardtop coupe to be a companion model to the 57 Cadillac Biarritz. Looking at the pictures of this car you can see why the 57 Cadillac Eldorado is considered a piece of rolling art. The 1957 Eldorado is one of the prettiest Cadillacs ever built.
As you can see in the photos, the paint on this Eldorado is stunning. I do not know how long ago the car was painted, their are a few minor imperfections in the paint. Contact me and I will give you a link to the pictures on the internet that show the cars imperfections.
The exterior is silver and it sports all of the features unique to the 1957 Cadillac Eldorado. From the working fog lamps in the front to the special stainless exhaust bullets in the rear exhaust tips, the 57 Cadillac Eldorado is a unique collectors car.
Photos of the driver's and passenger's doors show the unique door panels of the Eldorado, and the doors of this car are in very good condition. At some point prior to my purchase of the car the interior was redone in the original materials. The courtesy lamps operate as expected, and so do the electric windows and bench seat.
This car came with and still has the original 365 cubic inch V-8 with dual 4 barrel carburetors that it came with. The engine is rated at 325 horse power. Sitting atop the engine is the original bat wing air filter which is a collectible item in its own right. The undercarriage photos show the new exhaust system. Shortly after purchasing this car I installed an electric fuel pump to help with cold starts after the car has set for extended periods of time without running.
The front suspension of the car has been totally rebuilt with a NEW steering box and all components that were worn past their service limits were replaced. The tires are mounted on the Sabre aluminum wheels that came from the factory and have lots of tread left. The car has drum brakes front and rear that work as they should. The shock absorbers are in good condition.
Visible in the photos of the interior you can see the condition of the dash and instrument cluster. The headlights, parking lights, fog lights, turn signals, and brake lights all work as they should. There is an extra 1074 bulb in the glove box used in the Eldorado's parking, fog, and turn signal lamps (Rare and expensive) The electric windows and seat work. The radio and clock looks nice but are not functioning. Inside he glove box the electric trunk opener works as it should.
The headliner is in fair condition with one of the seams just in front of the rear window developing a split. Again, contact me and I can give you a link with many more photos so you can inspect this for yourself.
The windshield wipers have a vacuum motor which doesn't appear to be working, but since I would never drive this car in the rain it wasn't an issue for me. A newer electric replacement motor is available for about $350.All of the instrument lights function as they should. The generator light glows at idle as you would expect, the trunk open light illuminates when the trunk lid isn't closed, and the fuel gauge and other engine instruments and lights work as they should. All of the cars original air conditioning components are present but no attempts have been made to operate it and its condition is unknown. I have seldom driven this car but I can say that it got a lot of attention everywhere it has been.
The carpeting in the trunk is new. The trunk latching mechanism has been repaired with a new micro switch, new brush springs, and a thorough cleaning and lubrication. There is a video of the trunk mechanism in action. The trunk hinge needs to be adjusted to provide proper trunk lid balance.
The build plate on this car indicate that it came from the factory painted starlight silver metallic and that the interior was black and light blue paisley cloth with light blue metallic leather. Less than 2200 of these cars were produced and they sold for over $7,000.00 new. In today's dollars that is over $63,000.00 - This is a car that will most likely appreciate nicely in the future.
Cars like this don't come along very often. That being said some are probably wondering why I am selling it. The problem is that I have too many project cars I am working on right now. I am about half way finished on a resto-mod project on a beautiful, older, Cadillac, I have a gorgeous Jaguar I am finishing up, and a 71 Pontiac Grand Prix that is waiting patiently for me to finish returning her to better than showroom condition... I feel bad I don't have enough time to give this Eldorado the attention she deserves.
If you are interested in inspecting this car I live just 2 hours north of Las Vegas and I have a lift in my garage so you (or your mechanic) can do a thorough inspection. I have many more photos of this car posted online. Contact me through eBay and I will forward you the link.
I would love to see this car go to a collector who can take her out to show her off occasionally and give her the time and attention she deserves! The person who does can look forward to owning a car whose price will most assuredly climb in the coming years!
