1963 Cadillac DeVille Coupe
Up for sale is a 1 family owner car since new. My god father was the original owner on this 2dr Coupe DeVille and he was a prominent physician that bought a new car every couple years. He gave this car to his sister, my grandmother in 1964. I have some original documents from 1964 showing service at Cadillac with my grandmother's name. The car was a low milage car since my grandfather was a Chrysler defense employee and would not be caught dead in a GM product. Consequently this car sat in my grandparents garage for years hardly used. I got her running in 1988 and drove her around the block only to get yelled at by my late grandfather since he didn't want the neighbors to see it. My dad had driven the car down to Miami in 1968 and back to Michigan and those were the only two times the car had been driven until 2003. The car was originally from Michigan but was extremely solid since hardly used. Also, my god father had the floors undercoated when new, so floor pans and rockers are original and solid. There was only two rust holes in the lower fenders and I replaced them with Arizona rust free iron during the restoration. I completely stripped this car and restored her for my 93 year old grandmother from 1999-2003. I put as much nos parts on the car as I could find. The original 390 was removed and gone through as well as the trans. All suspension was replaced to include springs and ball joints. I sandblasted, rust proofed and repainted everything. The ac system was converted to R134 and ran until recently. I believe the compressor needs to be rebuilt. I found an upholstery man that was in his 80s about 20 years ago during the restoration and he worked in the fisher body plant in the early 60's. He remade the interior to exactly as it was originally from the factory, to include the correct embossed cadillac crests in the leather arm rests. The headliner is actually original. I removed cleaned and reinstalled. I still have original seat covers to show it is exact as original. The seat belts are correct and nos. There is an nos tissue dispenser installed under the dash and the car has a working am fm radio with rear speakers all factory. All the chrome and stainless was polished or replated. The glass was all replaced except the super rare rear tinted window and the GM emblems were etched in the glass as original. The blue tint color matches on the glass. I recently pulled the car out of storage and went through everything since she sat again for some time after my grandmother passed. I put about 2k miles on her and she drives like a dream and gets about 15 miles per gallon on the original AFB carb. I put new wide white wall radials on her but she comes with another set of rims and the original reproduction expensive Michelin bias ply tires. Everything is stock and as close to factory as possible, except I did put 2.5 inch stainless steel dual exhaust with mufflers and resonators during restoration. She sounds as good as she looks. I have had her outside under a expensive car cover for 1 year since I lost covered storage and can't put her in my garage. The car has held up very well and only needs some cleaning up. There is a small area on the lower left rear fender that needs to be cleaned up but it is not rusty. Looks like a paint prep issue. I don't really want to sell her but I don't want to build a storage building for her either. So looking to let her be enjoyed by a new family. The car needs the following to be about perfect. Driver window cracked. I have info to order another from same company I ordered from when I restored her. I put repop lower window frames in. They were made in China and are rusting. I have originals to swap the driver and passenger glass out. The window and door cranks/handles need to be reinstalled. A.C. compressor needs to be rebuilt, power seat does not work and there is a bearing carrier that goes around the drive shaft that is going bad and making noise. Last, the power brake booster needs rebuild since there is a leak in the diaphragm. This car is extremely reliable and I drove her to work a couple of times a week for months. She just sat for about 15 years after restoration. I put her back on the road and she has some maintenance stuff.I am selling her with a nearly complete parts car. The parts car is rusty and I dont have a title but she has alot of great parts for the future or you can sell them.As far as the restored 63, I have all the photos documenting before and during restoration with original faded lacquer paint. I unfortunately don't have any family photos from back in the day of the car for reasons previously mentioned. Also, I have over $40k in restoration receipts. It would cost a small fortune to restore one of these today. The chrome work alone would be over 8k. This car gets more attention then I like when I drive her around. I prefer her on the highway as she is an amazing cruzer. She is gorgous and you would be hard pressed to find one this clean and original with 1 family owner and original miles. Gorgous colors and yes the engine, trans and rear end, alternator, carb, starter and exhaust manifolds are all original to the car. I did have the exhaust manifolds ceramic coated during restoration. I have someone local that can fix the ac and bearing on the drive shaft. I have a local guy in town that can fix all this minor mechanical stuff. The glass and windows will have to be on the new owner. The power windows all work and seal properly. I have a clear FL title in my name with original miles stated. No title for parts car since she is a salvage vehicle. The car is sold as is with issues stated.Vehicle Details:
