Description:

1987 Buick GRAND NATIONAL GRAND NATIONAL

Up for auction is a beautiful 1987 BUICK GRAND NATIONAL, rare T-Top Edition. As shown in the photos, the car is in very nice condition, with no noticeable dings or dents, only some typical surface rust underneath. I purchased it in1996 in a private sale, and I have been the sole owner for 26 years. It has 98,925 miles, but I have put less than 1000 miles on it in all that time. This Grand National has never been out in the rain and is kept covered in a locked and secured workshop. With the exception of a small 1" split along a seam in the driver's seat, the upholstery is in excellent shape, with no other visible tears. The T-Tops have no scratches or damage (the lock on the driver's side is 'sticky' and may need some lube). The original factory bag for the tops is included. The Firestone Fire Hawk tires have less than 500 miles on them.
Although it is rarely driven, it is started and run regularly, and starts right up every time. I am not a mechanic, but I can say the engine is smooth with no significant missing, vibrations, or other irregularities. As the legend goes, the car is faster than blue blazes, but has never been raced, modified, or abused (it could easily be a daily driver). With the exception of an upgraded chip, the engine is completely original all around. A short list of 'nit-picky' items that I won't get to, for full disclosure: The power windows work, but are original and slow; the radio also works (antenna is stuck in the down position). The left blinker comes on, but won't blink, pretty minor stuff. The AC motor runs and blows on all speeds, but doesn't cool and may need charging and service. The driver's seat motor goes forward and back, but sticks going up and down, and one seat belt is stuck. For car guys, very little work. I believe the gas tank float may be stuck since it's not filled and run out regularly (saw them on Amazon). There are no visible water or oil leaks. The car has the original spare tire and jack (never used), and the trunk carpet and mats are all original and in excellent condition. Headlights and interior lights work. It's never been on the interstate, so I don't know about the cruise control. The power door locks will lock, but have to be unlocked by hand. In 26 years, those are the only flaws I could find.
I have some books that will go with the car, along with a never-used code reader, and the original 1987 manual. Also, I'm sending a full-sized custom cover (visible in one of the photos), never used outside, brand-new condition. This GN is a very nice example of what a luxury 'hot rod' straight from the factory used to look like, and although rarely driven, it has been awesome just owning it, and it's been like a member of the family. It is a real head turner, and those of you who know the car, know that people love seeing it, but after 26 years and a recent back surgery, I must pass it on. it's not a million $$ showcar, and doesn't pretend to be, and I have noted everything I know about the car, including minor details. This short list may not be exhaustive, and you may note other items typical of a 35-yr old car. Title and Auto-Check are clean and clear. Cashier's check or wired payment is preferred, and the car and title will be released for shipping when the funds clear. Buyer arranges and pays for all shipping. Deposit of $500 is non-refundable. Thanks for looking, and good luck. Email any questions; all items and questions must be resolved prior to the end of the auction.
