Description:
1970 Buick GS 455 Gran Sportck
1970 Buick Gran SportI purchased this car from the son of the second owner, the father bought it in 1978 and street raced it for many years around the Flint area. The son got it in 2008 after the father passed. The son raced it some on and off the track. Last time at track it went 12.70's.
He gave me all of the extra parts from his dad- they include an extra 1970 block,(SF) extra Stage 1 heads, original intake and carb, points distributor and original wheels and spare. Along with several timing covers, pistons, rods, carburetorsand misc.
The engine is a 73 block with stage 1 heads, 850 double pumper, Edelbrock intake and a Kenny Bell camshaft. Engine takes pump gas. The trans is a turbo 400 with a stall converter. The rear end is a 12 bolt posi out of a Chevelle with 373 gears. Car also has F41 suspension.
The body is in good shape for not have been touched for 35 years. Please see video'sof the car on Youtube. The passinger fender shows some bubbling at the very lower back corner-both quarter panels show a little spot directly behind the tire-drivers door shows small holes in both lower corners. The rear window leaked and rusted the trunk pan and he covered it with fiberglass. It really does need a pan and the rear window resealed. Doors open and shut well. The car has not been hit.
I had the front of the air cleaner sitting on the back seat and someone came along a took it. The rims on the car now are not the original- I was going to take the tires off and use the original wheels which are in much better shape.
pros--car runs strong-body is solid should make a easy repaint-could be a stage 1 who knows, but its definitely a 455 car-nice driver quality interior-I have bought a new wiper motor and pumpalong with GM center caps (I still need two emblems for them) and intake manifold gaskets-newer carpet, headliner and seat covers-nice floors-fairly rare and desirablecar
cons- factory tach is not working( I was advised it quit working when he put in the HEI) power steering leak-lower rad hose leaks at the radiator clamp-non original drivetrain-needs trunk pan (its solid nothing is going to fall out but it looks ugly) windshield is cracked
If the buyer does not want the pro form 850 carb, I will buy it back for $300 (works very well).
I live one hour north of Indy=you may call me at 765 206 0350 Steve clear Indiana title in my name. I maybe be able to deliver it up to 200 miles one way at $1.20 a loaded mile but you must call first.
