1941 Buick Special Sport Coupe

This 1941 Buick Special started life as a Model 46S, painted black from the factory. About 20 years ago it was subjected to a frame-off restoration, including an engine rebuild with installation of dual carburetors, "batwing" air cleaner, 3.90 rear end, effectively upgrading it to a 46SSE, Special Sport Coupe. It was repainted the authentic 1941 Spring Color, Aberdeen Beige, which was only available as a special order from the Buick Factory. The car has been converted to 12V with an alternator replacing the original generator. Even better, vintage A/C has been installed and works well in the Texas summer! Speaking of Texas summers, the cooling system is filled with Evans coolant - No more boilover! The radio is there but does not work, BUT a CD player and FM receiver have been cleverly installed in the glove box along with the A/C controls. Yes, I know, the engine-turned dash panels have been replaced by woodgraining - not correct but very pretty and consistent with the rest of the interior trim. Since purchasing the car in 2017 I've had the transmission and clutch rebuilt, the rear end fluids replaced, carpets cleaned and reinstalled, a tachometer discreetly installed, and recent engine work done just this summer. The 6.50 x 16 Firestone tires are NOT new, but they look decent, ride well, and in fact the spare has never been on the car. The car starts right up, runs and drives like a Buick should. Smooth uptake through the gears, smooth and confident stopping. The engine speed vs. rpm curve is as shown in the 1941 Buick Shop Manual, 2500 rpm is about equivalent to 55 mph. The car runs at 180 degrees with outside temperatures up to about 85F. It runs hotter (190-200F) in high summer, during 50-mile drives with the A/C on, but with the Evans coolant it won't boil over. And. it still starts even when hot. Oil pressure is 40-50 pounds at startup, 30 pounds during warmed-up driving, and 15-20 pounds at hot idle.
Perfect? No. The car has been driven around 9k miles over 20 some-odd years since restoration. There are chips and dings in the paint as you would expect from touring and driving, some discoloration on the interior rear deck behind the rear seat, but the car still won Best of Show at a local car show in 2019. The car comes with manuals and receipts from the restoration and subsequent maintenance work, and personal inspections are welcomed (by appointment, please). Of course, given the age of the car, the odometer reading isn't guaranteed; the car is offered on an as-is, where-is, basis, without warranty, and shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.
