This car today has just 63,880 actual miles and survives in extremely impressive, bone-dry condition. Garage-kept in the dry climate of North Dakota and adoringly owned since new, this Stage One isn’t only tremendously rare, but also a beautifully preserved, well-optioned, hugely-original example with a known and documented history all the way back to new. Vehicle will be sold with the original owners manual and service booklets, new vehicle delivery info, many registration cards documenting ownership through the years, and even a hand-written log from the original owner, documenting every oil and filter change from 1974-2008, with records including mileage and oil type all the way back. Exterior: Please defer to the photos and video, as the car is covered in detail. Blemishes are all shown close-up. The extra-cost color of Burnt Coral suits the car very well and just screams mid-70s. We have read that as few as only six Stage Ones were produced in Burnt Coral for the 1973 model year. This car has seen one respray in its life and paint work was absolutely done by a professional. Paint presents extremely well—no orange peel, paint run, dust nibs, etc. Nice and glassy, appears as factory. We have put an elcometer (paint gauge) on every corner of every panel and the entire car reads between 5.5 and 7.5 with the exception of a small spot on the bottom of the driver’s quarter, just behind the rear wheel, which reads in the low 20s. Consistent with one respray. Doors open and close nice and smooth, panel fitment is spot-on, glass is all clear and crack-free. Chrome is excellent, mirror-like finish, nothing more than the slightest bit of aging on the top of the front bumper. Wheels look good, again with no pitting or oxidation, just minor wear consistent with a well-taken-care-of, 63k-mile car. Tires are older Firestones and should be replaced sooner rather than later due to their age. Body is nice and straight with just one little ding, and that is located on the passenger quarter, photo provided. Sandalwood top is in mint condition—no discoloring, significant scuffs, corner bubbling, etc. Interior: Again, please defer to the photos and video. Original and unrestored neutral cloth/vinyl interior presents very well. No punctures, burst seams, or scuffs. Very, very slight wear, a few little fingerprint stains on the front seat bottoms, overall in impressive condition. Dash is excellent – no cracks or other damage, no adhesive marks or visible age. Heat and fan are functional, air conditioning was converted from R12 to R134 in 2011. While the AC has been converted, it is not currently blowing cold. Original AM/FM radio is functional and sounds great. Gauges are all functional and the odometer reading of 63,880 is accurate. Headliner is clean and tight, sunvisors are firm and hold their position. Door panels are free of any kicked-open markings or elbow dents. This car’s interior was well-optioned with power windows, power locks, cruise control, and AC. Lights and signals are all functional as well. Original carpeting is still nice and plush, a nice deep brown color, not discolored, sun-faded, or frayed/pilled. All four original floormats will come with the car as well, and are in equally impressive shape. Underbody/Under the Hood: Please take a look at the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. Beautiful untouched condition. Clean, dry, no through rust whatsoever. Minor bits of surface rust on exhaust components, nothing noteworthy. With an hour or two of scrubbing, this underbody would clean up phenomenally well. This car runs and drives beautifully – it truly feels like the low-mile car it is. The car fires right up first turn, idles cool and steady, pulls HARD through the gears with no hesitation or stuttering, shifts smoothly and on-time, brakes straight and effectively, and tracks straight down the road. No noises or tendencies of concern, no leaks. Buy with confidence, this is definitely one of the good ones.
