Description:

1987 Buick Grand National Base Turbo-T

1987 Buick Regal Turbo-T (Type). Otherwise known as the non black trim Grand National. I got this as a trade and I got it running like the legendary turbo Buick should run again. This IS a project vehicle that is far from perfect, but the major stuff is in great condition or already repaired and this just needs some minor work to be a fun driver or street/strip machine. I have addressed the most frequently asked and popular questions when it comes to buying such vehicles. Why are you selling it? First and foremost, because I WANT to sell this vehicle and don't NEED to. It was a childhood dream to have one. Now I've had it, but need to focus on other business projects. I want to make space in the garage, focus time/funds on other project, and possibly pick up a Chevy SSR. Can I have it restored at my local resto shop and sell it for top book value? Of course. Can I add a few more things to it and make it an 11 second terror. Of course. But I don't want to do that as the classifieds have enough trailer queen-pillow princesses or gutted street/strip racers. It's too original and has too much character to go that route, for me. Therefore, I will only entertainSERIOUS OFFERS from SERIOUS BUYERS. I've done my research on these vehicles and you should do the same as I don't have the time to educate buyers who don't know what this vehicle represents. Thanks. :)

Useless Trivia: True mileage is unknown. Speedometer may have been changed at some point. Car comes from Virginia. I paid to get the Buick archive build sheet for it. Carfax records indicate that this was possibly a government bought Buick when new (ownership/date/mileage/registration data do not match up with civilian vehicle registration requirements of the state and looks like it went through a govt auction decades ago). Sadly the selling dealership is out of business and I have not received a follow up response from the government agencies that I reached out to. *shrugging* Oh well.

Factory Features: LC2 motor (obviously), power windows, power locks, tilt, cruise control, A/C, power steering, power brakes (upgraded booster), power driver's seat, intermittent wipers, rear defroster, aluminum bumper brackets (rears were replaced with steel so apparently it had a little love tap from the back at some point). Sorry, it has a factory dog-leg open rear diff.

First Impression:So even though true mileage is unknown this car is REMARKABLY clean and original. Underbody has NO rust/rot. Interior shows more age and drying out than wear and tear. Door hinges are as solid as a new vehicle. Dent in passenger quarter panel. Needs front header repair and bumper extensions. Paint looks original, but is not pretty nor will it 'buff out'. But I like it's veteran, street brawler look and would be hard pressed to repaint it. But that's me. Interior missing radio, turbo boost/RPM gauge need work. Shift linkage needs adjustment. Power driver's seat needs re-cover. Headliner is great and not sagging. Other little things, but hey it's 33 yrs old.

What's been done to it? Previous Owner(s): Upgraded turbo capable of supporting 500HP. 50lb injectors, 1989 Pontiac Turbo TA heads and intake, power brake booster has been upgraded. Built 200R4 transmission clearly has a shift kit, deep cast oil pan, high stall converter (feels like about a 2400-2600). Previous owner installed GN fiberglass rear spoiler and GN wheels. Nope, don't have the original aluminum T-Type wheels.

What did I do to it?NEW Alternator, spark plugs, fuel filter, MAF upgrade, silicone vacuum lines, coil pack, custom Turbo Tweaks ECU chip. All the exterior lights in working condition.

How does it run?Motor starts up hot or cold withNO issues, idles smoothly and runs phenomenally strong. Transmission shifts firmly under light throttle and remarkably smoothly under deeper throttle.

What's it need offhand?More than I am wanting to do at this point. Short list in order of importance: Battery, catalytic converters (previous owner removed them), front suspension upper control arm bushings, body mount bushings all around, and turbocharger return line seal (drops a bit under boost), brakes and tires. Not too bad, right?
