1985 Buick Regal T-Type

1985 Buick Regal T-Type

While your average person might think there's nothing special about a Buick, real gearheads are well aware of the mad scientist engineering the brand was experimenting with back in the '80s. Cars like the 1985 Buick T-Type ruffled the feathers as they not only took the fight to Mopar and Ford models, but also gave Corvettes at the time some stiff competition.

For consignment this wolf in sheep's clothing second owner consignment car complete with turbo, new upgraded chip, and some recharged modern A/C. It is sporting most of its original paint, has the original drivetrain, and presents overall in very nice condition. Having the luxury of a Buick and the soul of a muscle car, we have a real storyteller on our hands.

Exterior
This Regal T-Type is draped mostly in its original black paint save for a few areas of touch up to keep it real...clean! The paint retains its shine, and depth. Straight steel panels mind their gaps and come together to create the iconic mid 1980's square and rectangle design. Up front a nicely chromed front bumper and grille surround show off the typical Buick class, but as we move rearward on the hood there is just a hint of the teeth beginning to show in the form of a bump that is emblazoned with the 3.8 SFI Turbo badge, which should serve as a warning that the luxury will come at a price. The remaining window trim, side spears, and surrounds have been menacingly blackened, to add yet another hint that there may be trouble brewing for a potential competitor. A nicely tinted opera window is seen on the B pillar and affords the rear passengers to watch the world streak by. The rear is all straight and true, again, just beautifully preserved, and the rear bumper is just as snazzy as the front, in all its mirror like glory. For some added eye candy, shiny Chip Foose Legend wheels are wrapped by low profile all season radials on all 4 corners. That will get you up the hill to fetch a pail of water, and then some!

Interior
A swing of the long doors, and shaking our hands is some tuck and roll velour fuzzy broadcloth in code 82E medium gray broadcloth, a smooth sill panel and gray carpet on the bottom. All in nice shape with just a few small nicks in the cloth. Moving our attention to the seats, we see high back buckets again in the fuzzy velour broadcloth, and with some dark gray piping thrown on. The driver's seat shows some wear in the form of some slight sag on the seat area, but I've begun getting picky, so we will leave it at that. A center console in darker gray streaks up to the dash between the seats, houses a glovebox, and the shift lever. Up to the original dash more square and rectangle design here for the temp controls and AM/FM/Radio. The instrument cluster is also square, and is very clean, just like the remaining of the interior components. A shout out to the rear bench, which is well preserved, and looks like it just came out of the showroom, with more surrounding gray piping. Gray carpet, clean and all good covers the floors, and a gray headliner hangs above and has a small area avoids the driver's head that is sagging just a bit. The interior is comfortable and fit perfectly for little Miss Muffet to sit on.

Drivetrain
Exactly what fables and legends are made of, all clean and all original numbers matching we are looking at a 3.8 Liter V6 turbo power plant, with EFI, and a high-power fuel pump, and a 200 R4 automatic tranny on back. Way back is a 10-bolt 3.42 rear axle which is a 10 bolt 8.5" ring gear setup.

Undercarriage
Slight surface rust on the usual suspects, but otherwise nice and clean, and structurally sound. We note a custom 2.5 inch exhaust with Custom 40 series Flowmaster Mufflers. An FE-2 suspension is on and has ride handling capabilities. Power front disc brakes are on and aluminum rear drums are on the rear.

Drive-Ability
A quick starter, great handler and the acceleration is truly a smile maker. All in the lap of Buick luxury, she handled our test track without breaking a sweat.

A great example mostly original condition, all nice, and all powerful. Nicely taken care of and only 2 owners, you will not be disappointed on your investment on this one!
