Description:

1963 Buick Riviera

1963 Riviera with 65 Riviera front clip. Restored in 1988 with same owner since. The vehicle was last registered in 1993 and has been stored since. It has its original numbers matching engine and transmission. The transmission was professionally rebuilt by Whitehouse Transmission shortly before storage. The engine runs strong with a smooth idle. This car could be restored with some rear quarter panels and effort, or there are many good parts and panels that would go a long way toward restoring another.
The Good:
  • Numbers matching 401 CI Buick engine runs nicely and can be seen running upon pick up
  • Numbers matching Dynaflow transmission was rebuilt before storage and is fully functional
  • Interior was professionally reupholstered in white vinyl that matched original leather before storage. The interior is complete. The seats will clean up nicely with minimal time and effort.
  • Most of the trim is in place and in good condition.
  • The trunk lid, hood, doors and front fenders are all restoration worthy.
  • The X-frame is solid underneath as well as the mounts and brackets.
  • Rear differential is working properly
  • All window glass is present
  • Clam-shell headlight doors are cool
The Bad:
  • Both rear quarter panels should be replaced or replaced from the trim line down
  • The body will unquestionably need restoration and paint
  • Single master brake cylinder system is not functioning and would be safer with a 66+ dual master cylinder system. The entire brake system should be rebuilt
  • The current Holley 750 DP is a loaner from a friend and can not go with the car. I have not found the original carb or air cleaner as of yet.
  • The fuel line is broken between the tank and fuel pump. It spilled fuel all over the floor from the broken line the last time it ran. This would have to be repaired before using fuel from the tank.
  • The floors inside the passenger compartment appear to be in one piece, but are suspect.
  • The trunk seal channel will need to be replaced in certain sections.
  • The cooling system is not currently holding fluid. The radiator or water pump and hoses will need to be repaired or replaced.
This was once a great looking car that constantly turned heads and commanded waves from all ages. It had plenty of assertive power to complement its look. It could be all those things again in the right hands!
