1984 BUICK GRAND NATIONAL GN**Please read entire ad before bidding.**
First year of the legendary Buick Grand National 3.8L turbo. 1 of 2000 built for 1984. Fastest production car in it's day. Very collectible and sure to appreciate in value rapidly. Desirable T-Top model. Factory correct year one 14' wheels with GN logo. This is an actual Grand National not a tribute or a clone. Miles believed to be actual. No wear on steering wheel, carpet, or driver seat to indicate otherwise. Mileage will be sold exempt per SC DMV regulations on vehicles 10 years or older. This is a rust free southern car traded in at a new car dealership.
This thing hauls ass. Turbo is good and working correctly. The top end does have a lifter ticking and an oil leak. (See Video) I did not try to dope it up or band aid the problem. The car runs and drives out strong. I bought the car knowing this with the intention of having the top end rebuilt. I was quoted @ $1000 at a local shop. You might get out less just fixing the one lifter. Listen to the video. Decide for yourself. I have talked to several Grand National and Type-T owners that advised me that these motor take alot of abuse for their relatively small displacement on the top end due to the turbo and high revs and that top end rebuilds are common and not very costly compared to Vettes, BMWs, Porsche, ect...
Interior looks good and original. Dash is still pliable and is crack free. Carpet looks good as do door panels. Car is dirty in pics and they don't due it justice. Drivers side door pull has screw missing and small trim piece. (I will try to replace screw before the auction ends) Paint has a deep luster and shine. Does have bug bites, chips, and touchups but overall looks very good. Glass is perfect. T- Tops are nice and scratch free and to my great surprise don't leak. One year only special order Grand National sport seats with leather inserts, contrasting piping, and adjustable bolster support are like new. Trunk is perfect without any rust or signs of repair. Overall, a very solid rust free car ready to be taken to the next level by the new owner. Some high-end aftermarket guages are professionally installed and are in working order. The missing passenger window crank is included. Original R134 AC system is complete and in place on the car but has no freon and will need to be inspected and filled or updated.
