Description:
1990 Buick Reatta leather
You are bidding on a 1990 Buick Reatta Convertible in "resale" red with a tan interior and a tan convertible top.If you are looking at this listing you already know how rare these cars are - only 2,132 Reatta convertibles were made during the two year run (1990 and 1991).
There were changes to the 1990 Reatta, primarily the dash cluster. It now has the attractive and functional analog looking gauges. You can see this in one of my listed pictures. It was big difference from the 1988 and 1989 Reattas.
Few people know that the Reattas - and especially the Reatta Convertibles were hand made. Buick actually constructed a special assembly facility for the Reatta.
The car listed for $34,000 in 1990.
A car this rare is worth collecting and restoring - now, before the values really begin to jump. This is your chance to get one at a bargain price. I nbought this Reatta as a package deal. I am already restoring a white coupe (which will be up on Ebay in a month or so) - so I have no time to restore this one. I am also restoring a Mercedes SL and a Cadillac Coupe DeVille. The Reatta needs to go
This is a NO RESERVE auction.
Someone is going to love this car.
She only has 78000 miles. She starts, runs and drives extremely well. The dependable Buick 3800 V6 produces 165 horsepower and 270 foot pounds of torque. She moves briskly. She is also front wheel drive, which means it's great in rain and snow (if you choose to drive her in those conditions). Like all Buicks she floats down the road. Don't mistake this car for a Sportscar - it's more a GT. An open air cruiser.
She is inexpensive because she has needs. Again, mechanically great - cosmetically, in need of:
Paint - there are no dents or dings to speak of. Very straight body but ALL Reattas faded with time. The quality of GM's paint in 1990 was abysmal. Both of my other Reattas faded too.
The interior, while nice, could use a good cleaning. The carpet is in good shape with minor fading but could benefit from a steam cleaning. The seats are in great shape - no tears of rips - leather conditioner would do a world of good to them.
The radio has power, displays the time, but does not play music - don't know why.
Another issue with Reattas is their headlights. The motors on this car work fine - the gears (which were plastic) are bad. You can get the kit to fix them on Ebay all day long (they can be easily raised manually). I had to fix the headlights on my other two Reattas.
Power seats work fine, A/C blows cold (I think). Once in a while the dash flashes an "error" message and then reappears just fine. Again - another Reatta issue.
There is no lock for the trunk - so one will need to be installed.
The rims are in pretty good shape but are easy to refurbish. A new refurbished set is available on Ebay from $400 to $600.
Horn buttons on steering wheel are missing. Available on Ebay inexpensively - (another Reatta issue).
Windows work well. Power locks work well. Steering column tilts. Windshield is in good shape no noticeable chips or cracks. Power seats work well. Not sure about the cruise control -never tried it. Power trunk release works well. Power fuel door opener works well. Door panel fit is good - no accident history that I can determine.
Tires are in average condition - so plan on changing them in the future.
Brakes work very well. No issue - no shakes nor pulling.
The trunk is in near new condition - see pictures.
The pictures show that the "C" in Buick is missing on the rear taillight. I have the C. They are merely glued in place from the factory. I'll glue it back on before the car is shipped.
Convertible top is in good overall condition with one small tear (see picture).
The top is manually operated - as are all Buick Reatta convertibles. Buick should have made them power units - for $34,000.
A great collectors car - with no rust. You'll be pleased that you bought her in 5 years when they are selling for $30,000 or more. In fact, in 5 years, I'll buy it back for your bid price.
Due to her age, she is sold "as-is" - and "where is". I can assist with shipping and hold the car for 30 days after prompt payment. The $500 is non refundable - no exceptions. Ebay is a funny thing, 1/2 of the people that buy cars, never complete the transaction. Makes no sense.
No warranties are implied or expressed. I have described the car the best I can - but am happy to answer all emails (through Ebay) and take more pictures upon request. I want a happy buyer.
Good Luck
