MotoeXotica Classic Cars is excited to present this 1937 Buick Special Trunkback Sedan Restomod. With the Great Depression starting to ease when this car was new, Buick tried to return to its pre-depression sales greatness. Car features a 350 CID Chevrolet V-8 with a Holley four-barrel carburetor and breathing through dual exhausts and connected to a GM 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission. The same Montana owner has lovingly cared for this awesome steed since 2003!
This gorgeous black example of Harley Earl's styling has stood up well since the 1930s. The black paint is lustrous and thickly-applied. You feel its weight when you open a door or run fingertips over the finish, however there is a blemish on the trunk lid and other, small blemishes visible upon close inspection. The car has no windshield wiper blades but the glass panels are in very good condition, crack-free and no hazing. The car's lights are present, crack-free and are in fine condition. Car comes with reproduction wire wheels, enveloped by brand new Coker Classic wide whitewall tires. All of the body panels are straight, the bumpers and trim shine in the sun. A modern touch is the center high-mounted stop lamp (CHMSL) beneath the rear window. Driver assist features include air-conditioning, power steering, power disc/drum brakes and power windows.
Inside, the black seats are in excellent shape, the complementing carpet is in good shape while the headliner, dashboard, three-spoke, wood-rimmed aftermarket steering wheel and door skins are all in the same condition as the seats. The car's interior is sprinkled with late '60s-70s GM parts - steering column, gearshift lever, power window switches and HVAC vents. A functional bank of Dolphin gauges flanking the steering wheel and an Alpine AM/FM stereo with CD player with detachable faceplate complete the interior.
The Buick Special was an automobile produced as Buick's lowest-priced model, starting out as a full-size car in 1936. From 1936 to 1958, Buick's Special model range represented the marque's entry level full-size
automobile. The '36 model year was a very successful one for Buick and it also marked the first time using names rather than the simple serial numbers which had been in use before. The Special continued to also be known as the 40-series, however. The first Specials rode on a 118-inch wheelbase, but for the next model year this was increased to 122 inches as all Buicks grew for that year. The engine was also new at 248 CID rather than 233 CID.
Competitors to this Buick in 1937 included Mercury's Town Sedan, DeSoto's Custom Brougham and Oldsmobile's Custom 8 Cruiser Club Sedan. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
