Here, at MotoeXotica Classic Cars, we are proud to present this mostly original five-passenger 1932 Buick Phaeton 68C Convertible. Only 366 phaetons were sold in 1932, making this a rare pre-war Buick that would be a unique addition to your garage.
A Mr. Takamura, a private collector, bought this Buick about 25 years ago from the Grave Motor Company in Kansas, which is no longer in business. He took the car to Japan to display in his Kawaguchiko Motor Museum to show to the public. After he passed away four years ago, the family decided to bring it back to their residence. A Mr. Nemoto, also a classic car collector, was very close to the family and decided to purchase the car. After keeping it for several years, he decided to bring it back to United States.
The car's Coronado Tan over Symphony Brown paint is in overall very good condition showing patina with crazing and some stress cracks from age, but still very presentable along with the brightwork in front - hood ornament, grille, headlight shells, dual horns and fog light shells - sparkle in the light. The vehicle's glass panels are clear and intact. The styleish hood ornament sets off the chrome grill with prior repairs. The car's lights, including its dual Pilot-Ray foglights, are in excellent order. The car rides on Bedford bias-ply tires, sized 6.50-18, and they surround distinctive orange wire wheels. All of the car's body panels are in very good order and solid, including the running boards and dual side-mounted spare tires. The contrasting soft top is in overall good condition. The external, weatherproof mounted trunk is also in good order and there is a rack available for the owner to add his or her own trunk for even more storage. The car's engine bay is very tidy and the bumpers are very good order.
The 273 CID straight eight-cylinder engine has five main bearings, mechanical valve lifters, and a cast-iron block. Backing that engine is a three-speed, "Silent Second" Syncro-Mesh manual transmission and 4.27 rear end.
Inside, the newer tan leather seats are in very good condition, as is the matching carpeting. The instrument panel offers a full array of gauges, plus a clock for the front passenger and is in good order but there are some blemishes on driver's side. The original three-spoke steering wheel is present, the inner door panels, complete with map pockets, look very classy and the mirrors and shifter are in good condition. This is a radio delete model.
For 1932, Buick added two additional body styles to the Series 60, offering a total of seven models from which to select. A new addition was the Convertible Phaeton, which offered seating for five, leather interior, dual rear ashtrays, dual side mounted spare tires and a choice of either wood or wire-spoke wheels, the final year the former style would be offered.
This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 927 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
