1941 Buick Other

I purchased a small collection of antique automobiles from an Estate in West Virginia with this 1941 Buick Super 5-Passenger Sport Coupe being one of them. It was explained to me that their father bought the car in the fall of 1967 and drove it sparingly until 1977 when he parked it in his garage where it has sat since then. As you can see by my photos, this Buick has been properly stored indoors for almost 40 years. The car is nearly complete down to the original paperwork & bumper jack with the exception of the spare tire. We brought the car out of hibernation and thoroughly washed the Pewter Gray body and then gave it a wax. It cleaned up better than I thought and is definitely in driver quality or better condition. Even though the paint is shiny there are areas of paint loss, scratching and other imperfections. This Buick has never been wrecked or taken apart for restoration. It did have 1 lacquer repaint probably back in the 50's or 60's over the same color. They did not paint the firewall, door jambs or under the trunk lid. The body, floor pan & chassis are all rock solid and the doors, hood, & trunk lid open, close & lock correctly with their original keys. The chrome plating on the car is also in driver quality condition. Even though the bright-work is still shiny and nothing is chipped or broken, there is pitting and would need to be re-plated for show quality. All of the clear window glass is original to the car and the door windows roll up & down easily. The cloth interior is all original and is not moth eaten, stained or moldy and is still very nice and presentable. In 1958 a trim shop put seat covers over the original seats, I know this because they signed and dated the back of one cover that I removed. I left the drivers front seat bottom cover on because you can feel some bumps & irregularities under the cover where the driver sits, and that is probably why the seat covers were put on in the first place and probably when the car was repainted. The dashboard is in nice original condition with the fuel, oil, temperature & generator instrument gauges in good working order, the clock does not. The speedometer shows 13878 but after driving the car, I noticed the needle bounces but does not register the mileage. I can guarantee it is not 113,878. You will also note that this is a factory radio delete car with the Super nameplate installed over the radio opening. We changed all of the fluids, did an electrical tune-up, installed a new battery, had the original radiator re-cored, had the water pump restored along with the original gas tank with a new sending unit, new brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders & hoses. New muffler & exhaust pipe and both carburetors were rebuilt. The Buick Straight 8 engine with factory compound (Dual) carbs starts at the press of the gas pedal and doesn't smoke, tick or knock and runs so smooth that you can put a glass of water on top of the mini bat wing air cleaner while it is idling. The 3-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and the clutch engages correctly but does have a little bit of chatter. The car steers easily and the new brake system makes it stop on a dime. This 1941 Buick Super comes with it's original, factory paperwork and a clean clear West Virginia Title. Please understand you are bidding to buy, not to be the first one to look. This car is 75 years old and was just pulled out of a 40 year hibernation. Lots of hard dirty work has been done and many dollars have already been spent to get the car to it's present state. There are still some things that need to be done; like a new set of tires and the shock absorbers need rebuilding. I am not trying to sell you a trailer queen or show car, just a nice survivor. If you need to examine this Buick you are more than welcome and I recommend that you do so. I am not interested in any trades and do not have a But it Now Price. Thank you for spending the time to look and good luck bidding!
