1958 Buick Century
1958 Buick Century 2 door hardtop coup, 48k mile
I bought it about a year ago with the intention of making it mechanically road worth, but leaving the body and interior original. I went as far as I'm willing to go. Now it'sup to someone else to save her. I still have the original title in the original owners name. Although it is a projec, it is still a very complete original car. The numbers on the engine do match the vin. It is a 364 nailhead with factory 4 barre, auto tran, power steerin, power brake, am radio. When I got the ca, it had been sitting since 1976. I have spent a lot of time and money under the hood. Rebuilt car, starte, generator and waterpump. All new gaskets on top en, including intak, exhaust manifold, valve cover, thermostat and carb. New plug, wire, cap and rotor. I media blasted and painted everything I removed before reinstalling. The engine has NOT been removed or rebuilt. I only did what was needed and detailed the engine compartment. The engine fires right up and runs smooth. A little smoke at start u, but clears up right away. Still may need some minor adjustment to timing and carb. I replaced the wheel cylinders and brake hoses. I was able to bleed brakes and get a good peda, but found brake fluid under the car after it sat a couple days. Appears to be leaking from a hard lin, but I did not go any further. I do not know the condition of the power brake booster. I only painted it and reinstalled. The trans does go into drive and reverse but it does have a pretty good fluid leak from the tail of the trans. I have not driven it on the road. I only backed it in and out of my garage. I do not know the condition of the trans at any other speed. The car is running of a gas can. I currently have the gas tank out because I was going to have it cleaned. The gas tank is the only major part that is not original to the car. The power steering pump just started leaking a couple days ago. might be mino, but it was enough for me to close the hood and walk away. The exterior of the body is pretty solid. I included pictures of the worst spots. The passenger side rocker has a hole and the drivers side lower 1/4 panel needs a patch in front of the tire. The floors are soft in a few spots and there are a couple hole, but not enough to say it needs complete floors. The trunk is very solid. Interior is all original. It had a padded das, but it was shot. I removed the upper dash and sanded and painted it so I wouldn't have padding blowing in my face. The front of the dash is missing in the picture, but I do have the core. All exterior trim is on the car except a piece of trim above the passenger side headlight. There is damage to the drivers side tail light and 1/4 panel. The tail light is broken and the tail fin is pushed in. I currently do not have keys for the car. I accidently sent them with another car I sold recently. I am working to get them back before the auction ends. The car can still be starte, because the ignition is not in the lock positio, but I can not get in the trunk. I do know the original hub caps and floor mats are in the trunk. Do not let the surface rust scare you away. The car is NOT a basket case by any means. It is a very rare car withabout 6000 made. Please look at pictures close before bidding. I do suggest seeing the car in person before bidding. Being sold AS/IS at NO RESERVE !!! Buyer is responsible for paying and arranging shipping. Vehicle and title will not be released until full payment is received and check clears.
