Offered here is a 1974 BMW 2002 tii with original 111,940 miles. The car originally belonged to a doctor's wife, who bought it new. She drove the car for 20 years until the brakes needed service. This was to be done by a family friend, a mechanic, on whose property the car was parked and then forgotten for over 20 years. I found and purchased the vehicle in 2016 to use as a spare parts vehicle for a future project. The vehicle is 100% original except for the steering wheel and radio. However, it has the original components that were installed in the tii and can therefore be used as a parts donor for the restoration of a tii or for a conversion to a tii. The chassis numbers are all present and also stamped on the original engine block. The car has a clean Florida title in my name. The vehicle is completely rusted through and cannot be restored. However, certain sheet metal parts are in good condition and can be reused. The total mileage read is 111,900 miles. The original engine is running and a recent compression test shows consistent readings between 100 and 110 psi. Before the first test run in 2016, the valve cover and oil pan were removed and checked for contamination. The engine was then flushed and any oil deposits removed. New oil was then filled in, the spark plugs were removed and the engine was then cranked several times by hand and later with the starter to ensure oil pressure on the bearings and camshaft. The mechanical Kugelfischer injection pump was disassembled and cleaned. The ignition was set and the subsequent test run was carried out several times a day at idle only. The engine runs perfectly and starts even after a long period of time. It idles smoothly and responds well to the throttle. The engine could easily be installed in another vehicle at any time without having to overhaul it first. A standard four-speed gearbox is installed. All dismantled parts that cannot be seen in the photos were stored in boxes. The vehicle has many parts, especially small parts, that can be reused as many parts are difficult to obtain or are no longer available. The vehicle cannot be driven and has no working brakes, but can roll and steer. The car is equipped with an original Behr air conditioning system. The driver's side window is broken. There is no documented history for the car. The car can be inspected at any time by prior arrangement in Naples, FL 34117. Please also take a look at the two videos.
